Thoughts?Men are facing a full frontal assault on their rights, health and culture like never before.
The war on masculinity has never been so brutal – but it’s not a war being waged by women. The attack is coming directly from the top, as the establishment desperately attempts to emasculate and disempower men in order to force women to be more dependent on the state, thereby enabling more power to be centralized and aiding the growth of big government.
Here are ten ways in which the state has declared war on men and masculinity;

Re: 10 Ways Masculinity is Under Attack
There's a TV ad here in SA that depicts a couple of kids "dressing up" and they accidentally spill something on their mother's favourite white dress (as their dad narrates). Unfortunately mum is not home so in steps their heroic father to save the day! Great stuff.
He opens a cupboard (above the washing machine), pulls out a box of washing detergent thingies and says (on his cell phone): "I've found a packet of (name brand), mum. Now what do I do?"
And his MOTHER says: "Just pop one of the sachets into the washing machine with the dress".
Evidently she didn't tell him to select a wash cycle or press the "on" button or how to dry the damn thing. Or iron it either. But later that night the wife comes out of the bedroom wearing the unblemished and immaculate white dress and she and hubby go out the door as he looks back at his mother doing the baby-sitting and voice-over says "Thanks Mum! And thanks (name brand)"
This makes me vomit right in my mouth - so much so that I can't even remember what effing product is being advertized except that I will never, never purchase it (it ain't a powder in a box).

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I've done the wash, and put the clothes in the dryer and folded them when they were done. Doesn't erode my masculinity, it makes me a better partner.
I also shovel the snow, put on a new roof, cut the lawn, vacume the pool, tend to the compost piles, fix the cars, change the oil in the cars, do woodwork, etc.
I did fall short on that 2.1 kid thing. Only have 2.0. Sperm count didn't seem to be a problem.

Looks like something Steve would read and take seriously.
Which is understandable since he is a casualty in that war.

I thought it a good starting point for debate, is anything /anyone out of bounds for a start point? Should we all be a like a certain member, and only post link to articles whose views we support and fully agree with?Sue U wrote: Really, Gob? Alex Jones? Have you sunk that far?
That particularly struck a chord.Whereas 50 years ago, advertising, Hollywood and television was filled with examples of positive masculine role models that young men could look up to, today’s entertainment industry routinely portrays men as clueless and bumbling oafs at best (think Homer Simpson, Everybody Loves Raymond, Married With Children) or at worst as aggressive sexual predators.

TV/movies is not real life. People should realize that. Life doesn't come with a sound track and things don't always work out at the end of a half hour/hour/90 minutes. Kids should look up to their parents and others in their community who do things that are note worthy, or just plane nice and right. Of course there are plenty of single parent kids who are missing the influence of that, which is at the heart of the matter IMHO.
Is it any wonder that given the PC state of today, the only person one can poke fun at is the white male.today’s entertainment industry routinely portrays men as clueless and bumbling oafs at best (think Homer Simpson, Everybody Loves Raymond, Married With Children)

People whined that masculinity was under attack by feminism in the 1970s.
I'm sorry, not 'people', pussies. Pussies whined that masculinity was under attack.
Apparently pussies are still with us, and still whining. And about the same things.

On the subject of good gender role models, on the Program "Blue Bloods," the men of the Family Reagan are Men, and the women (including the teenager) are appropriately strong, competent, and feminine. Apologies to those who don't have access.
Refreshing.

Re: 10 Ways Masculinity is Under Attack
The collecting urge came to mind recently when I was invited to speak at the inaugural Being A Man festival at London's South Bank Centre. Now, I can talk about mixing pop and politics all day long and have cornered the market in ideas about radical Englishness, but being asked to talk about manhood threatened to take me right out of my comfort zone.
As the event approached, I struggled to get a grip on what it means to be a man today. I think it's a mark of our progress as a society that most of the things that men once relied on to express their masculinity can now be done just as well by women. They can fly jet fighters, drink 10 pints of bitter, win the Ashes - all while pulling a double shift of day job and housework.
Collecting coins and growing a beard were the only two things that I could come up with when trying to claim pursuits that were exclusively male. For me, this Being A Man weekend was shaping up to be as much about learning as it was about celebrating.
The keynote speech was given by Grayson Perry, one of Britain's greatest living artists and our most outre transvestite. He delivered his talk dressed in a baby doll outfit - pink gingham dress, frilly undergarments, blonde wig and heavily rouged cheeks. Beneath this feminine exterior lies a competitive, motorbike-riding, opinionated, wise-cracking, self-confessed alpha male. An hour in his company is very entertaining.
He ended his presentation by offering a bill of rights for men that provided the first point of reference for the ensuing discussions: ''We men ask ourselves and each other for the following: the right to be vulnerable, to be uncertain, to be wrong, to be intuitive, the right not to know, to be flexible and to not be ashamed of being all these things.''
This fluffy-sounding wish list was an iron fist in a velvet glove; a pointer to men's failings. At our worst, men can be guarded, predictable, calculating, obstinate boors. In its traditional form, Perry seemed to be saying, masculinity is all about being in control.

I think a more interesting topic, somewhat related, is the phenomenon of treating formerly-normal male behavior as abberant in our grade schools and high schools. Boys want to be aggressive, loud, physical, and they want to win (or finish first). Too often, this behavor - even if harmless - is treated as though it were borderline criminal.

I'm not sure "bullying" was ever manly, except in the sense that some sports coaches and military NCO's employ a sort of "bullying" to get their desired responses.
