Ray, not to get personal, but if that's all you got out of 12 years of Catholic education you weren't paying attention. If you asked no questions in High School it's only because you lacked the courage to do so. The answers are there for those who look. Very courageous, walking away from it. Pat yourself on the back.

dgs49. LACK OF COURAGE HAD NOTHING...

... to do with.

By the time I reached high school I was totally and fully disinterested in the catholic faith due to all the arrogance, and self righteousness, and absolute certainty of the religious authority around me, and I was already finding my personal values elsewhere. My road may be a hard one yet it is a courageous one, and I am eminently more happy in life having created my own road. But you wouldn't understand. And that is exactly why we are where we are at this juncture. I will offer no more on the subject of religion... or lack of it. DIXI

And may God have mercy on our souls.

Good on you Ray! I too survived Catholic indoctrination and learned to think for myself.

Dave, I find it ironic that you accuse Ray of not paying attention yet you seem unaware that in YOUR faith, thoughts can be just as sinful as deeds. Let me refer you to the Confiteor:
I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
(My bold)

You might remember that one. It's the prayer that all Catholics recite during Mass and one of the most clumsy sentences ever recorded.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
