Many detective shows are a version of the Sherlock model. A few named above, and you can add humorous ones like Monk and Psyche, and uber-formula shows like Murder She Wrote. [edit] And then you have the British shows in this model, Morse, Poirot and others. The good ones are fun to watch and the others not so much. I agree, the new promoters should show the creativity these other shows have and develop an original set of characters.
