Re: Good Heavens!
Let me get this straight. We have someone who may (or may not) have had a spiritual experience and then some are calling them a fraud and or money hungry?
In the halls of the 12 steps, there are many who claim to have had a spiritual experience (I have not had one, but am open to having one) and I do not doubt them nor their interpretation of what took place. Not having read this doctors account of what happened to him, I neither doubt nor endorse what took place. Neither can anyone else as they were not there nor did they experience what he experienced and cannot interpret what he experienced as only he can interpret those experiences.
Got it?

Yes rube, we all know that, but hey, you're family....
What can we do?

Not funny, and unintelligent.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
Re: Good Heavens!
I believe rube got that line from the caption beneath his High School Yearbook picture....Not funny, and unintelligent.

...but you have to admire the comma placement.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: Good Heavens!
Indeed. Although we're probably too stupid to recognise radical, new wave punctuation.

Re: Good Heavens!
Well if it had no comma then I of course would jump all over it and say "Not funny and unintelligent" can break down to mean (a) not funny plus (b) not unintelligent, which of course means intelligent. In order to avoid the comma usage, one would need to say:
"Your comment is neither funny nor intelligent" (my preference). Or "Your comment is both not funny and not intelligent" or if one insists upon the negative variant of intelligent "Your comment is not funny and is unintelligent".
The negative "un" prefix takes a positive verb prefix.
So all in all I think the comma served to shorthand the sentence correctly. It being noted that placing a comma before the 'and' is acceptable in most airports. The client may proceed to the departure gate in a state of justified rectitude*.

I think you need a space after that **stick up ass
Re: Good Heavens!
Though the fact that the retard posted; "Not funny, and unintelligent," immediately after one of his own posts, was so fucking hysterical I almost shat.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
Re: Good Heavens!
That reads like an instruction of some sort....stick up ass
Like you're telling someone to elevate their fanny.....

Hmm. It may have been more helpful for desperate seekers of non-existent difficulty had I placed the ubiquitous and quite overworked "i.e.," before the 'stick up ass'. But I did not so, id est your tough luck

Go to law school, Meade

Now that comma makes your post look like a 'to do' list Guin...

Re: Good Heavens!
I took a career aptitude test many decades ago. The results indicated that I should do something in the fields of either journalism, religion or the law. Naturally I did none of the above until very recently. Since it seemed to me that journalism and the law are already sufficiently full of crap, I gravitated toward religion where I've done my best to level the field.Guinevere wrote:Go to law school, Meade
