You suggested community home with strict restrictions and supervision when allowed out; to me that sounds like life imprisonment, because I can't imagine not having the freedom to come & go at will and to enjoy a solitary walk at will.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
