Thank God he is finally done talking. The drowsiness he induced was overwhelming.
I redub him Pope Sominex. He was also incredibly hard to understand. Better he had used his first language with an interpreter.

On the quiz I got 100% UU, followed by secular humanist (89%) and Liberal Quaker (87%). My actual preference (Reform Judaism) was only scored at 55%, although in reading their description of tenets and values I really can't see why I shouldn't have been scored at 100% there, too.

I got 100% Eastern Orthodox, 100% Roman Catholic, and then 99% Liberal Quaker ( ) and then the same 86% Meade got for Conservative Protestant...

I also got the same 55% that Sue got for Reform Judaism, and 52% for Muslim...

Only 11% for Secular Humanist....

I'm having a little trouble understanding some of the scoring too... :?

I guess what I can conclude from my numbers is that I'm as Jewish as Sue, as Protestant as Meade, and as Catholic as The Pope.... :)

I really hope lib and wes take this test...

I'd love to see what they get for "Muslim".... 8-)

I wasn't there either and I got 56% Reformed Judaism. Top was UU (100%) followed by liberal Quaker (90%). Liberal Protestant, secular humanism, thought, and Taoism all came in the 70-80% area.

Only 49% reformed Judaism, so I guess I was excused.

19% Islamic.

10% Roman Catholic.

Sue, is that some kind of Hebraic illustration from a school text book on reproduction?

Hmm, maybe some insight on Genesis 3?

No, just a New Year's card. :D Pomegranates are a frequently used symbol in Jewish tradition. This card is wishing you all a happy new year filled with ... um ... pomegranate seeds (representing numerous blessings, some of which are identified here as love, peace, contentment, success, etc.)

Pomegranate seeds were also the fruit Persephone ate in the underworld, requiring her to return for three (or six, depending on the translation) months every year, and thus creating the change in seasons from summer (fertile) to winter (dying) and back again.

I can't see or eat them without thinking of that story and its interesting to me that they are a symbol of the New Year in judaism.

Me too, Guin. Demeter, as any mother, gave sound advice to that silly girl... but did she listen? Nooooo!

(Thanks for the explain and the good wishes, Sue. I kinda liked mine better!)

She was young, and hungry. And besides, it makes a better story than if she had listened. I mean really, Cinderella didn't listen. Neither did Snow White. Or Sleeping Beauty. Or Helen (or Paris, for that matter).

That's a very good point about a better story. Most would be rather flat (and a lot shorter) if everyone made good decisions!

That reminds me of a Hitchcock quote:

Reminds me of a (poorly thought out) rhetorical question one evening at Bible study while pontificating about the laws of the time...

What if Joseph would have had Mary stoned?

To which I quipped:

It would have really cut the New Testament short.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

That reminds me of the old catholic joke--The people were about to stone the adultress and Jesus said, "Let anyone among you who is without sin cast the first stone"; out of the crowd comes a woman who throws the first stone nailing her in the head, and then the rest finish her off. Jesus turns to the woman and says, "Mom, you gotta cut that out!"
