Bus adverts again

An incendiary ad campaign that includes an image of American journalist James Foley just before his beheading in Syria is coming to 100 MTA buses and two subway stations.

The ads, paid for by flame-throwing blogger Pamela Geller, at a cost of $100,000, are intended as an “education campaign” to warn of the “problem with jihad” and Islamic sharia law, Geller said.

In one of the placard ads, Foley appears handcuffed, on his knees, next to the hooded, black-clad jihadist who is about to execute him — an image from the video released by the group Islamic State, which boasted of the execution.

Is it just me, or does that hitler picture seem photoshopped?

ETA: By the way, if he is who I think he is, any collaboration with Hitler or Mussolini would not be a surprise (as her opposed the Brits in the ME and "the enemy of my enemy..."), but that picture just doesn't look real.

The "Grand Mufti" did indeed meet with Hitler:
Al-Husseini was the scion of a family of Jerusalemite notables.[9] After receiving an education in Islamic, Ottoman and Catholic schools, he went on to serve in the Ottoman army in World War I. At war's end, he positioned himself in Damascus as a supporter of the Arab Kingdom of Syria. Following the fiasco of the Franco-Syrian War and the collapse of the Arab Hashemite rule in Damascus, his early position on pan-Arabism shifted to a form of local nationalism for Palestinian Arabs and he moved back to Jerusalem. From as early as 1920, in order to secure the independence of Palestine as an Arab state he actively opposed Zionism, and was implicated as a leader of a violent riot that broke out over the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine. Al-Husseini was sentenced to ten years imprisonment, but was pardoned by the British.[10] Starting in 1921, al-Husseini was appointed Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, using the position to promote Islam, while rallying a non-confessional Arab nationalism against Zionism.[11][12]

His opposition to the British peaked during the 1936–39 Arab revolt in Palestine. In 1937, evading an arrest warrant, he fled Palestine and took refuge in, successively, the French Mandate of Lebanon and the Kingdom of Iraq, until he established himself in Italy and Germany. During World War II he collaborated with both Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy by making propagandistic radio broadcasts and by helping Germans recruit Bosnian Muslims for the Waffen-SS. On meeting Adolf Hitler he requested backing for Arab independence and support in opposing the establishment in Palestine of a Jewish national home. At war's end, he came under French protection, and then sought refuge in Cairo to avoid prosecution.

That particular version of the photo looks kind re-touched or enhanced, but here's another version:

And here's another photo of the same meeting:

Yep, that is who I thought he was--I couldn't read the name from the original photo.

Meade--since you like the outstretched arm salute you might like this:

My parent told me they used to do this salute during the pledge in NYC up into the 40s (before the US entered WW2). It is not just the province of the Nazis.

Those bus adverts are a great cautionary tale for why municipalities should think long and hard before selling space at their football fields and other public facilities for advertising. It's a question I see discussed regularly as cities and towns scramble to find additional sources of revenue, absent tax increases.

There are a number of ways of raising revenue without taxes which are harmful. Like Ferguson has found.

There are also a number of taxes that can be harmful too.

Or maybe it's just the quality of the copy, which was then digitally enhanced to make it look better. To me it looks like the two halves of the picture were joined to make it seem like the two were sitting together (the first picture posted by Meade looks that way as well to me.); the other photos posted by Meade and Jim substantiate that the two met, which I didn't really doubt.

Also too, Pam Geller is a well-known shrieking rage-monkey who is the Rosa Parks of hating on Muslims, in that she makes her spittle-drenched stand on municipal bus lines, who sometimes have the sense of irony she so sorely lacks.

Way to spend down that divorce settlement, Pammy!

I'm familiar with Ms. Geller...

As I recall, DBA was fond of citing her as a "source"...
