The Lord works in strange and wondrous ways. Praise Jesus.

Oh, and God bless America... except those who can't tithe.

What a horrible deficient in the understanding of Christ that pastor is - as are any who believe him to be correct.

It seems to me, this is a case of perfect moral symmetry.

"You shouldn't chase the individuals down," Simmons told WALB-TV. "You shouldn't do that. If that's the case, you're money hungry."

No more so than the congregant who is so greedy for money they refuse to contribute their part.

Someone should introduce them to AA's Third Tradition.

Contribute connotes an optional action; one need not contribute money, one chooses to contribute money. If you want to make it a fee for "services" received, then perhaps it should not be tax deductible.

I'd suggest the Bible first. They should get a grasp on Christianity if they want to practice it

Like the widows mite? You are obligated to give even when it hurts, not just when it makes you feel good?

If I give $1,000 it is no credit to me because it is nothing. I never see it in the budget and it has no effect on my other economic behaviors. So I understand that my obligation to my community is greater than that and I give to education and healthcare and Gimbe Hospital and a list of other things besides. And even then I think I should do more. My bills are paid, me retirement is funded, I know no want so I should do more than I do.

If I were a Christian I would view my obligation even more stringently than that. As my predecessors have done.

Or I could be a cheap selfish bastard and join a church!
