The new flag
The new flag
I am seeing this flag while I drive around my territory; I am not sure what it means, but I do feel this country is in serious trouble. I am not sure it has the right to be considered sovereign nation any more. Here is what some others think; what do you think?

What is the meaning of the black-and-white U.S. flag?
Russell
In my 67 years of life, time in the military and patriotic living our flag is RED WHITE AND BLUE. I find all other colors to be disrespectful. If I were a cop, anybody flying a black and white fake flag would come under suspension.

This flag comes from the infra red flag used by the Army. The flags we have help aircraft identify Americans on the ground compared to any others. These are the dumbest comments I have ever heard. Look at recent photos of Soldiers deployed in Afghanistan. Dumb race baiting liberals! Freakin dumb!

The southern flag stands for all that the south was and could have been. While the confederate flag is flaunted today by "some" people who are racist, not all people who flaunt the confederate flag are racist. The confederate flag stand for wat could have been and what the people of the south and time wanted to be true and right. I am whole heartedly southern but i have no objections to people who are other races than white (being white myself). The confederate flag is a symbol that can either be rejected or accepted depending on your beliefs and nothin more in todays society.

America already has a flag and it is red white and blue. The flag and it s colors already have significant meaning born out of the blood and sacrifice of our veterans and in my opinion should not EVER be tampered with. Should and individual or group want a flag to represent their own individual meanings, strife or circumstances then make your own but do NOT mess with our national flag. I personally find it to be disrespectful.

This flag has recently come to my attention. I definitely see the military reasoning behind it. But at the end of the day. The flag gives me a feel of uneasiness. Like a new America with out spirit. Specially when the police have it on their uniforms.

In my personal opinion I believe it was to mimic the IR we wore while being deployed. That is what I thought when I first seen it. So if that is the true meaning I would look at it like all of us soldiers of the modern military could see that flag flying in front of eachothers homes and relate with eachother. We would know he/she has been there they've been through what I went through in one way or another. I don't believe its any form of disrespect to the proper form of our American flag. And to the traditional veterans its the same military just different style uniform.

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

When I was young. True at the time there was the worries about nukes, but MAD was a strategy that held Communist nukes in check. And we were a tough people and we had strong presidents. Do really think that Hilary or Obamie is match for Putin. He is stronger, tougher and smarter than both of them put together. We as a nation were once a tough people but now we are a nation of ,”Hell no we won’t go “. There he goes again, expressing his admiration for Putin and his disdain for the U.S. and its presidents. Makes you wonder if we don't have another Lee Harvey Oswald in the making right here on Plan B

There isn't the tiniest doubt in my mind that Hillary Clinton will be "stronger, tougher and smarter" in dealing with Vladimir Putin than a guy who speaks glowingly of his admiration for him, has huge financial ties to his oligarch buddies, who has said he would consider recognizing Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea, who has declared that Putin isn't involved in Ukraine, and who has openly threatened that he would not meet our NATO commitments in the face of Russian aggression...
I cannot imagine anyone who would be less of a "match" for Putin than a dupe like that...

Re: The new flag
Well said, LJ.
According to a listing of "protest flags" the black and white American flag appeared at a Freddy Gray protest rally in Baltimore in 2015. It's based on The Recession flag created by Kanye for an album.
So yes, our resident dick-head racist is being true to form, failing to recognize (really, too stupid to understand) that the first amendment protects variations in our flag as political speech, and we have a long and honored history of using it that way in this country.
In other words, he was trolling again.

Maybe you should read your own link, lib. The largest part of the "answer" is this:liberty wrote:Ok, you want to explain, what does this flag have to do with racism?MajGenl.Meade wrote:Can't resist the lure of racism, can you?
Whatever you choose to present appears to have race as the basis of your complaint. The word "black" is like jam to a wasp for you. There is however another side to the story that has nothing to do with the recession. The original concept of the black and white American flag was to depict the past, present and future of all the Black Americans living in America. The black in particular represents the past as well as the future. The black is also considered to symbolize the backbone or the background of Black Americans. This is because the country was built through many sacrifices and black seems to be the appropriate colour to depict the struggle. It is also taken as a representation of the present struggle of Black Americans to unit and initiate a social change.

Re: The new flag
Since he is not going to be elected he is irrelevant in this topic. But I will say this not fighting Russia is the smart thing to do. We have no other alternative other than to try to befriend them. During the Cold War I was ready to die for freedom, but that was when I thought we had a chance of winning. To resist the Russian at this point would only be murder and a war crime. At least they are not communist anymore.Lord Jim wrote:Do really think that Hilary or Obamie is match for Putin. He is stronger, tougher and smarter than both of them put together.

Mr. Liberty, I would be most interested in your personal explanation of the reverence for the honor and traditions of the pre-civil war portions of the USA that became the Confederacy.
But only after you have read "The Bloody Shirt" by Stephen Budiansky.

THAT MIGHT BE BECAUSE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IT TOO HARD. I read that, but since it sounded a lot more black power than skin head or klan I didn’t think about racism. Besides I didn’t endorse any of the comments I just reported what I saw.

I see that flag a lot too, but it is pretty easy to understand. The meaning has been well known for along time at least for people with a knowledge of American history .oldr_n_wsr wrote:I see a lot of "Don't Tread on Me" flags being flown right under the Stars and Stripes.

What year was that?
The expression dates from the Vietnam war era, nearly 50 years ago now, and since then we have had several conflicts with no trouble getting sufficient volunteers."... now we are a nation of ,”Hell no we won’t go “
"... but in an artic war we could go through them in no time ... "
An Arctic war? Against whom? There is no arctic nation we do not completely dominate militarily. Russia is a joke militarily and I just can't work up a lot of anxiety worrying about Inuits in Mukluks invading from Greenland with their hoards of Muskox shock troops.

"Don't Tread on Me" flags. Do you mean the First Navy Jack or the Gadsden flag.
I regret that the Gadsden flag seems to be appropriated and generally assumed to represent the Tea Party.

Re: The new flag
I recall about 40 years ago (around the time of the Bicentennial) I saw a lot of people flying what was called the "Bennington" flag, probably because it had the big '76' on it, even though there is little or no proof that such a flag was ever flown at the Battle of Bennington or any other time during the Revolutionary period. Many vexillologists believe that this flag never saw the light of day until the War of 1812, when it was introduced in order to inspire "the spirit of '76".

So people will fly pretty much whatever they want to, whenever they want to, and for whatever reason they want to. In fact, here's what I fly on weekends outside the "Schloss Radler"....

THE OFFICIAL FLAG OF MARGARITAVILLE —
A/K/A THE "WELCOME TO FINLAND" FLAG

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
The New Flag
A flag is merely a symbolic representation of a group or country's core values and beliefs. If someone chooses to alter or defile that symbol well, in the words of Hillary Rodham Clinton, "what difference... does it make?" It doesn't automatically negate those values and beliefs, right?
I often laugh and cringe equally when I see old news reels or movies that show soldiers risking life and limb just to retrieve a flag that might be left behind in retreat. Abandoning the cloth remnant would be logical because it has no true value, especially when millions of them exists. Regardless, certainly not worth dying for, IMHO.
My only expectation is that any flag, no matter how configured or whatever emotions are stirred by it, is never flown higher on the pole than the flag that is congressionally and militarily sanctioned.
