Re: God vs. Darwin
Ah, not enough people prayed! Isn't that typical?
Since the line went up everywhere after the national minute of clapping medical folks, perhaps we should have a graph for that too??
No, wait - we should dismiss the utility of medical people! Case closed!

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Or maybe they prayed for the wrong thing?
You forgot and probably a few more.

Pastor Claims Coronavirus Is Satanic Plot To Bring Socialism To The U.S.
The Devil Is A Socialist: Pastor Perry Stone, a prominent conservative Christian preacher, claims that coronavirus is a Satanic attempt to kill older Christians so socialism can take over in the U.S.
Speaking at a “Firehouse Prayer” meeting at his church in Cleveland, Tennessee, Thursday night, the conservative Christian pastor declared that “the COVID-19 virus is a demonic attempt to kill elderly Americans who won’t accept the Mark of the Beast so socialism can take over this nation” according to a report issued by Right Wing Watch.
At the service Stone said:
Stone continued:It’s almost like a spirit of Amalek that is trying to attack our older people. Let me tell you why the enemy wants to get rid of our older people. They are the ones who are established in the Bible. They are the ones who know enough about the Word not to take the Mark of the Beast.
In other words, Pastor Stone is claiming that the Coronavirus is attacking older Christians who refuse to take the Mark of the Beast in a Satanic plot to bring socialism to the U.S.The younger generations [say], ‘Oh cool, put it in my hand. It’ll open a door. Wow.’ They’re going to take it. The older people in America in the Southeast are the conservative people, and this is attacking them to get that group out.
If you get rid of all of those people who resist the Beast, and resist the Antichrist, and resist the system, then you have a whole other pro-socialist, pro-communist, give-me-your-money-and-I’ll-do-what-I-want-with-it group coming up. You see them. They’re out there, 35 percent of America is into it. And they have no respect for those older people who have made this country great.
While Perry is clearly a delusional idiot who is using the coronavirus to promote his own ridiculous conspiracy theory, he is not the only religious conservative making idiotic claims.
For example, in a disastrous public health move, the Greek Orthodox Church has issued an official statement declaring that the coronavirus is not transmitted via communion.
While Christian Prophet Cindy Jacobs declares that the coronavirus “will cease worldwide” because the virus is now “illegal” in the name of Jesus.
And more recently, Televangelist Kenneth Copeland claims he can cure coronavirus if his viewers touch his oily hand through their television set during his televised ministry.
Bottom line: Prominent conservative Christian Pastor Perry Stone claims that coronavirus is a Satanic attempt to kill older Christians so socialism can take over in the U.S.

If JAWS took place now there'd be people defying the closing of the beaches by wading into the water with slit wrists and fifty pounds of raw hamburger stuffed into their bathing suits, just to troll the libs. (stolen from Adam-Troy Castro)

I know I shouldn't chuckle, but I can't help it.
Virginia pastor who defiantly held church service dies of coronavirus
He practiced what he preached — then he died of coronavirus.
An evangelical pastor died of COVID-19 just weeks after proudly showing off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”
In his last known in-person service on March 22, Bishop Gerald O. Glenn got his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church to stand to prove how many were there despite warnings against gatherings of more than 10 people.
“I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that,” he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying that “people are healed” in his church.
Happily announcing he was being “controversial” by being “in violation” of safety protocols — with “way more than 10 people” at the church — he vowed to keep his church open “unless I’m in jail or the hospital.”
“I am essential,” he said of remaining open, adding, “I’m a preacher — I talk to God!”
On Sunday, his church announced “with an exceedingly sorrowful and heavy heart” that the pastor had died a week after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
His wife, Marcietia Glenn, is also sick with the bug, with church members offering their prayers.
Their daughter, Mar-Gerie Crawley, told WTVR that her father initially dismissed his symptoms because he has a condition that often leads to fevers and infections.
She is now urging everyone to stay home.
“It becomes very real to you,” she told WTVR after her parents’ diagnoses.
“I just beg people to understand the severity and the seriousness of this, because people are saying it’s not just about us, it’s about everyone around us.”

That's a wheelbarrow full of understanding compared to the "Bishop".

COVID-19-Defying Pastor Wants People to Send Him Their $1,200 Stimulus Checks
Pastor Tony Spell, the head of Louisiana’s Life Tabernacle Church who has refused to close his church because “True Christians do not mind dying,” is coming after everyone’s stimulus money.
In a video released yesterday, Spell encouraged his followers to hand over their $1,200 checks. Because that’s what good Christians do.
Apparently, it’s a big sacrifice when his own family donates their money to… him.#PastorSpellStimulusChallenge. Three rules.
#1) April the 19th, 2020, it begins.
Rule #2) Donate your stimulus money.
Rule #3) Donate it to Evangelists. North American evangelists who haven’t had an offering in a month, missionaries who haven’t had an offering in a month, music ministers who haven’t had an offering in a month.
I’m donating my entire stimulus — $1,200 — my wife is donating her stimulus, $1,200. My son is donating his stimulus, $600. #PastorSpellStimulusChallenge.
If you don’t have a church, give through my website… I’m here on the Mississippi River. I’m here at Red Stick. Baton Rouge. #PastorSpellStimulusChallenge.
Ironically, though, Spell is the one guy who shouldn’t be getting money based on his own rules since he’s still holding in-person church services and is therefore collecting offerings.
He’s not interested in helping pastors in a time of need. This is about his own greed, ripping off the very people who might need that money for rent, food, medicine, or more.
It’s bad enough that some Christians are putting their congregations in harm’s way. This guy doesn’t just want to take their lives; he wants what’s in their pocketbooks first.

Member of defiant Central church dies from coronavirus illness, but pastor says it's a lie
A 78-year-old man who attended a Central church that has bucked state stay-at-home restrictions has died from the illness tied to the novel coronavirus.
The East Baton Rouge Parish coroner said Harold Orillion, a parish resident, died from the COVID-19 respiratory illness on Wednesday. Three sources told The Advocate that Orillion had ties to the Life Tabernacle Church. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss a link between the man and the church.
The Rev. Tony Spell, the church's pastor, did not return messages left Thursday about Orillion after the coroner released his death information following a public records request from The Advocate. Spell later in the day confirmed to television stations WAFB and WVLA that Orillion was a parishioner in good standing.
Spell also disputed that Orillion's death was due to the virus, despite the coroner's determination. "That is a lie," Spell told WAFB.
Attempts to reach Orillion's wife and his living siblings in the Baton Rouge area were either unsuccessful or ended with no comment.
News of the death comes hours after a lawyer representing Spell and the church in an expected legal fight over the state's social distancing restrictions on churches confirmed he had been hospitalized and was on oxygen after contracting the virus.
The lawyer, Jeff Wittenbrink, attended two events at Life Tabernacle Church — an April 2 news conference and an April 5 church service, and has been at Baton Rouge General since Tuesday after progressively worsening conditions, including a high fever and persistent cough, he said.
It's not clear where Wittenbrink or Orillion actually contracted the virus. Wittenbrink said he doesn't know but that he hadn't been careful enough during his outings in the public in recent weeks.
During a midday news conference, Gov. John Bel Edwards was asked if the church was being investigated as a possible coronavirus cluster.
"I am not aware of any investigation," he said.
At the time, news of the lawyer's hospitalization was just being published online. Since then, Orillion's death has also come to light. The state Department of Health has said it identifies a cluster as "two or more cases that appear to be connected."
A Health Department spokesman didn't immediately return a call for comment about the church in light of the latest developments.
Spell's fight against the order, along with a handful of other religious leaders nationally against similar restrictions, has attracted worldwide attention. He has been charged with six misdemeanor counts of violating Edwards' orders.
Spell, who has faced criticism over his stand, has made several provocative comments about the virus and the resulting controversy, including telling TMZ that true Christians do not mind dying from the virus but from "fear living in fear, cowardice of their convictions."
While many houses of worship have converted to online services, Spell maintains that in-person services are essential to his congregation's faith and financial well-being.

Jesus had anger issues because no one would gave Him a deep discount on lamp oil that day.
He should have gone to the bathhouse rather than the temple.
