As a useful analogue for current affairs in the USA, this week is a good time to review the book of Samuel. Nice comparisons of what you get with a human government based on leadership by the 'better' people. Greed soon conquers all.

A sweet Passover (a zissen Pesach, as we of the Ashkenazi branch say) to you all. Also, happy Easter to all who celebrate. (In my family we refer to either or both collectively as the Festival of the Eggs.)
I have to say, Passover has always been the holiday that has meant the most to me personally, since it is almost entirely celebrated in the home and is foundational to the identity of my people, who have been re-telling the story of the exodus generation after generation for 3,000 years or more. It provides such a direct connection to our ancient history, particularly since our practice tells us to view ourselves even today as having been personally liberated from bondage, and therefore exhorts us to to care for the foreigner since we too were once foreigners among the Egyptians. At the seder this evening we had five generations of my family at the table along with friends collected from each of those generations except my mom's (she is the last one left of her group). So it was full of all the emotions that go with that, too.
Anyway, wishing you all a joyous season of springtime rituals meaningful to you.
