Catholic Priest Alexander Bede Walsh Faces Jail After Being Found Guilty Of Paedophilia

A Roman Catholic priest who used his "revered" status to wage an 18-year campaign of abuse against vulnerable boys is facing a lengthy jail term after being convicted of 21 sexual offences.

Alexander Bede Walsh, who targeted eight victims in Coventry, Staffordshire and Warwickshire between 1975 and 1993, was found guilty of two serious sexual offences and 19 counts of indecent assault by a jury at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Adjourning sentence on Walsh, Judge Paul Glenn told the 58-year-old paedophile that a long prison sentence was inevitable.

The 10-day trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard that Walsh was arrested and interviewed in 2006 after two men contacted the police to claim they had been abused in Coventry when they were children.

The clergyman, who was ordained in 1979, told his trial that he had never sexually abused or inappropriately touched any of the alleged victims.

Under cross-examination by prosecutor Robert Price, Walsh said he thought he was the victim in the case and the complainants were motivated by the idea of compensation.

Story
The judge in this case is my first cousin and knowing him as I do I expect the longest sentence that the law will allow. :ok

So lying is ok in the RC church? Not my idea of moral superiority.

I wonder if it was a Clinton-type denial and there is some twisted rationale supporting what he said.

But if guilty, being a liar is the least of his faults.

The former Catholic priest will merit jail time - some 6 years back he admitted and was found guilty of possessing child pornography. However rubato, what is the logical difference between concluding that this man's lies mean that "lying is ok in the RC church" and

concluding that lying is ok with fat people?

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Fat people aren't held up to be paragons of goodness as priests are Major.

Case in point. My aunt (and the judge's aunt too) is a staunch Catholic in her 70s who happens to remember this priest from his time in her parish. As this trial progressed she rang Paul on numerous occasions to tell him how much this priest had helped her when her daughter died and what a wonderful man he is. Paul refused, of course, to discuss an ongoing trial with her and had to jokingly mention 'obstructing justice' before she would let it go.

I've seen this many times... "He's such a lovely priest and couldn't possibly be guilty of these terrible things".

Priests tend to be put on a pedestal. Even if he stood up in court and admitted everything there would still be some of his parishioners who refused to believe or accept it.

You mean lock-stepping? That's what I've been saying, but how is that behavior unique to just the RC? Seems biased to say, only the church does it?
It's a regular, human, social reaction to 'support the team'- right or wrong. If the whole of humanity does it; how does that condemn the church?

The whole of humanity does not do it. Speak for yourself, not for everybody else.

Nobody is claiming that the behaviour is unique to the RCC but I dare you to show me evidence of similar behaviour by another organisation.

What she's too stupid to realize, is that if what she says is true, she is admitting that she would participate in a coverup of child sexual abuse to "support the team", just like anyone else in the "whole of humanity".

From, 'More Of The Same (RC Church Cover-Up)', already posted;

Government politicians and prostitution

Chuwit Kamolvisit is the owner of several massage parlours in Bangkok and considered by many "a godfather of prostitution" in Thailand. In 2005 he was elected for a four-year term to the Thai House of Representatives, but in 2006 the Constitutional Court removed him from office. In October 2008 he again ran for governor of Bangkok but was not elected. He revealed in 2003 that some of his best clients were senior politicians and police officers, whom he also claimed to have paid, over a decade, more than £1.5m in bribes so that his business, the real business of selling sex, could thrive.[18].

Both politicians and police have been supporting and indulging in the prostitution industry openly. Khun Tavich, a veteran politician at 76 years was under fire in 2005 for impregnating a 14-year-old girl, who worked across the street from the congressional building.[20] It is well-known, for example, that the father of a female member of Parliament is the owner of a massage parlour, a fairly deluxe establishment with several stories of jacuzzi-equipped rooms.[citation needed]

After a police raid on some Bangkok parlours where policemen had sex with prostitutes, "Acting Suthisan Police chief Colonel Varanvas Karunyathat defended the police action, saying that the (police) officers involved needed to have sex with the masseuses to gain evidence for the arrest."[21] Apparently, this is standard practice as a separate police force did the same in Pattaya in May 2007.[22]

For some reason, no one wants to acknowledge this; who is doing the cover-up?

That's why I was so concerned for you Hen, it compulses me to fix you, since you obviously won't fix yourself.

You twisted sexual fantasies you have for my childhood are just that, Low.

YOUR twisted sexual fantasies.

None of them have any basic in MY reality, and you are just proving yourself time and time again to be bitter and twisted and with no leg to stand on in this discussion.

Why does no one else but you have any recollection of this sordid tale you have decided to recently mis-remember?

Could it be that your memory is your own worst enemy as well as the first in your facilities to fail to your self-abuse?
Bah!

She has just admitted that she would assist in the coverup of child sexual abuse if she came to know of it, in order to "support the team". How much more evidence of how fucked up she is do you need?

Granted all that (which I might). It doesn't change the illogic of stating that this man telling a lie THEREFORE means that lying is acceptable to the Roman church. The one does not follow from the other. As I pointed out, one may as well say that this man lying proves that lying is OK with fat people. Or with men. Or with English people. OK well maybe the last two are right.....

If the guy had been Australian and it was said that "this means lying is OK with Australians", you'd not bother finding excuses for it.

Maybe he meant

This man lies
this man is said to be 100% moral by the RC church
therefore lying is Ok with the RC church

But I'd have to see the second statement in writing from the Roman church before agreeing to that

Psst, if you were SOOOOO concerned for me, why have you never raised this concern before?

Why does no-one but you know for this sick pre-pubescent fantasy you have of my life?

She is obviously projecting something that happened to her, by someone close to her. Why else do you think she is always defending pedophiles, because she cannot reconcile an act so evil with someone who was supposed to love and protect her.

The thread never came up before. I could link to the other forum, which has noted your behavior, if you like?
