The slutty of younger women

Can a young woman make it in music today without giving us a flash?
Miley Cyrus won't be told what she should wear or what she should sing about.
The 17-year-old is releasing a new album, Can't Be Tamed, and is doing it her way, even though some say she is going to too far for her age.
"I'm not trying to be 'slutty'," said Cyrus in a recent interview. "I'm not trying to be like, go to the club and get a bunch of guys ... What I'm trying to do is to make a point with my record and look consistent, in the way my record sounds and the way I dress."
What she wears has been put under the spotlight recently. Some thought the video for Can't Be Tamed was too provocative, and others have criticised her for revealing too much skin in her outfits.
Cyrus admits to being partial to shorts and hot pants. But she sees nothing wrong with flashing her legs.
"I'm really comfortable with my body, I work really hard to be fit and to know that I can wear whatever makes me most comfortable. I feel more comfortable dressing with a little less, which is just how I've always been," she said.
"Now I'm able to do that a little more freely and, also, I've just grown up to be this way too. It's not like this was me five years ago. It's me now, presently."

Okay....
So if I've got the distinction she's trying to make, she's not actually trying to
be slutty....
She's just trying to "look" and "sound" slutty....

She looks good, she knows it, she knows that sex sells, so she shows off her legs. Err...yeah? So what?

Until she's 18 and an adult I haven't a problem.
It's the sexualization of children I have
A BIG PROBLEM WITH.
Personally, I wouldn't care if I never heard about her again.
Her so called sexual allure will soon fade, look @ madonna and lady googaa

I was a slutty young girl in my days. By the time Miley was shaking about her groove thing, I was already drinking in bars with my friends and induldging in pre-marital sex.
However, I did not make myself out to be a role-model for anyone and I certainly would not worry if I wasn't seen to "look consistent, [snip] in the way I dress".
Load of bollox and just an excuse to get all her Dad's friends to buy her record.

Well, 'The Look' says 'I'm exploring my sexuality.' ...while making a profit. Buy my album, and I may show you more. At least, she's saying, I'm a woman/bang me, and not Britney's message of, I'm a schoolgirl/bang me.
This is I find contradictory however;
Cyrus admitted music isn't inspiring her the way it should be. "The more I make music that doesn't truly inspire me, the more I feel like I'm blending in with everyone else", she said.[2] In regards to music, Cyrus originally desired for a new sound, a more rock music inclined one.[3] She later revealed Can't Be Tamed contained music influenced by pop singer Lady Gaga and Britney Spears, possessing techno music inclined songs.[4]
She doesn't want to blend in, but mimics the crowd pleasers, hmmm.
Grow up and be yourself, girl.

There are a lot of crappy musicians with good bodies. Why should I care? I saw someone called "Shakira" performing for the beginning of the World Cup' It was 98% Cootch dance with lip synching.

I think what Cyrus is trying to do is to get away from the "good girl/Hannah Montana" disneyfied image of the perfect, nonsexual young lady. It made her a lot of money, but kids rebel against being placed in a box like that. I don't particlalrly care one way or the other, but I'm always happy to see someone tweek disney's artifical, plastic image of what's ideal. Hell, i recall when the Mickey Mouse Club tried to hide Annette (Funicello's0 budding breast; even at a young age, that was the only reason i watched.

Well, the whole point/problem is young women's female role models are often just sluts, selling sex.

selling sex.
It is easy to do, especially to a very young audience, and damned lucrative.
If I could do it I wouldn’t think twice
Unfortunately, no one is going to pay me to sing although I might get some people to pay me to keep my clothes on.

And giving contradictory messages "I'm not being a slut", this whole "girl on girl" thing is just a natural expression of me and the point that my record is trying to make....

...and to make other young chicks feel insecure about their looks, instead of raising confidence in themselves.

It would be nice if the girl could actually sing. As far as I am concerned if she is selling herself, sex is the only thing she has going for her.

She had a good sales pitch as "Hannah "School kid by day/popstar by night" Montana", but a limited sell by date.
Now she's just become another "Wouldn't you like to be me, girls/wouldn't you like to fuck me, boys" Britney/Shakira/Pussycat whoresDolls etc clone.
