Religious busses

CHILDREN in a north Wales council district may be forced to present a baptism certificate before they can board a school bus.

The Telegraph reports the council of Flintshire is seeking to prevent the children of non-believers using the free transport system to attend one of the 12 religious schools in its district.

Parents and priests have united to accuse the council of discrimination.

The council says it is making the move as part of budget cutbacks.

Elsewhere in the United Kingdom, the opposite has been happening.

Councils have been scrapping free bus transport for religious schools, an estimated saving of $700 per child.

Flintshire's proposal will see children needing to present a baptism certificate or a letter from a priest before boarding.

Flintshire to hire translator. They're a bit worried the letters from priests might be French

Around here, the public school buses are used (by law) to transport those children to "religious" schools.
