Banning US Bloggers from the UK.

Home Secretary Theresa May is considering banning two US bloggers from entering the UK to speak at an English Defence League rally.

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer are due to join an EDL march in Woolwich, where Drummer Lee Rigby was killed.

The pair are prominent "anti-Islamisation" campaigners in the US.

Home affairs committee chairman Keith Vaz claims their presence will fuel hatred and is calling for them to be denied visas.

Mr Vaz said: "I am alarmed that the EDL is planning this type of march in Woolwich. It is clear that the location, motivation and attendees at this march will incite hatred.

"Adding incendiary speakers such as Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer just fuels the fire.

"Before we have to pay the costs for the extra policing required for this demonstration, the Home Secretary should consider using her discretion to ban these two speakers from entering the country.

"A ban should be enforced properly and physically stop people entering our borders."

The Home Office said it did not routinely comment on individual cases but the home secretary was aware of Mr Vaz's letter and would be responding in due course.

Mrs May has the power to exclude non-British citizens from the UK if she considers their presence to be "not conducive to the public good" but she must act in a "reasonable, proportionate and consistent" way.

Ms Geller, of the Atlas Shrugs blog, and Mr Spencer, of Jihad Watch, are co-founders of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, best known for a pro-Israel "Defeat Jihad" poster campaign on the New York subway.

The poster, which caused controversy in the US when it appeared last year, read: "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

The pair plan to join Danish activist Anders Gravers, of Stop Islamisation of Europe, and EDL leaders Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll, at the event, on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, 29 June, where they will lay a wreath at a memorial to Drummer Rigby.

Anti-fascist campaign Hope Not Hate has started a petition calling on Mrs May to deny Ms Geller and Mr Spencer a visa on the grounds that "their very presence in the UK will give encouragement to racists and extremists".

A spokesman for Hope Not Hate told the BBC News website the group was also unhappy about Mr Gravers' planned presence at the EDL event, but said he could not be denied entry to the UK because he was an EU citizen.

He denied the group wanted to stifle free speech and said it would also be against "Islamist hate preachers" entering the UK, adding: "We don't need people coming to this country to cause trouble."

On Twitter, Ms Geller has reacted to the campaign by calling it an example of "fascism and hate" and "SS-like thuggery".

On her blog, she claimed "Islamic supremacists and leftist thugs are strong-arming British authorities to ban us" and vowed to resist efforts to ban her and Mr Spencer from the EDL event.

Scotland Yard said that it was aware of the march and would have an appropriate policing plan in place.

Last month, British National Party leader Nick Griffin was stopped from attending a march in Woolwich on the grounds that it would inflame community tensions.

Instead members of the right wing party marched at Westminster, sparking clashes with rival anti-fascist protesters.

Over the past few years, I have seen news video footage of probably upwards of a dozen pro-Islamic protest marches and rallies in Great Britain where the most venomous, hate-filled, anti-Western bile was spewed, without the authorities apparently getting their knickers in a knot over "inciting hatred"....

Apparently only the geese get sauce in the UK, not the ganders....

Radio host Michael Savage has been banned inthe UK for years.

I blame Cricket and Soccer for numbing their collective psyche.

To the extent that groups like the EDL enjoy popular support, the centrist "responsible" political parties, (in the UK's case the Conservatives, Liberals and Labourites) have no one but themselves to blame...

Such groups only win popular support when the mainstream parties fail to meet the aspirations and expectations of the population...

When you have governing institutions that are widely perceived to be biased against the dominate culture and it's values and traditions, and biased in favor of both minorities hostile to those values (like the radical Islamicists) and also biased in favor of international entities (like the EU) rather than the countries own legal rules and traditions, you are naturally going to sow anger and resentment amongst a significant percentage of the population.

And the more you do this the deeper and wider that anger grows, and the more support these neo-fascist bully boys can expect to garner.

And things like Cameron's pussy footing over holding a national referendum on Britain's membership in the EU certainly doesn't help matters...

It's beginning to look like Cameron was never really serious about putting this to a vote, and only wanted to use the threat of a referendum as leverage to try to gain concessions from Brussels....

So the Nazi Party gained popularity in Germany because mainstream parties in the Weimar Republic were biased in favour of the Jewish minority, which was "hostile" to the values of the dominant culture?

How about, gee, I don't know, blaming the popularity of racist parties on the fact that there will always be a portion of every population that are unreconstructed racists ready to listen to any claptrap that reinforces their prejudices?

Uhh...

No...

The Nazi Party gained popularity because the mainstream political parties failed to to uphold the deeply engrained German value of an orderly society...They mainstream parties failed to operate effectively to run the country...

Your analogy really doesn't work well...

I don't recall mass protests by Jews in Weimar Germany denouncing Germans and German soldiers, and demanding that the legal system be replaced with the Torah...

Quite the contrary; the vast majority of German Jews did everything they could to assimilate into German society; They didn't denounce German soldiers as murderers; they had served honorably in the first World War as German soldiers...
How about, gee, I don't know, blaming the popularity of racist parties on the fact that there will always be a portion of every population that are unreconstructed racists ready to listen to any claptrap that reinforces their prejudices?
If that were the explanation, that some portion of the population is just somehow genetically pre-disposed to racism, and that the actual events that take place and the conditions in the society play no role,. then one would expect that this percentage would remain fairly static...

But of course that isn't what happens...

What happens is that radical parties gain popularity when mainstream parties fail to meet the expectations and aspirations of mainstream society, just as I have said. That is what the record shows; that is certainly what happened in Nazi Germany, (your deeply flawed analogy between the Jews of Weimar Germany and the radical Islamicists living in contemporary Britain not withstanding) and it explains the rise in popularity of right-wing parties across Europe. (And some left wing parties as well.)

ETA:

I would also add that racism in general (and thus the percentage of racists) has overall dramatically declined over the years since WW II in Western societies generally, further undermining the " portion of every population" theory...

One need not be a racist to take offense at people who come to your country, take advantage of what your country has to offer, and then spits in your face by marching down the street denouncing your country, the brave men and women who have fought to defend it, and the very culture of freedom that allows them to put on that display...

And then they go on to call your women whores for not having their heads covered, and demand that your Enlightment era secular laws be replaced by their medieval code...

This is the sort of thing that is happening in the UK today. It's perfectly understandable that normal, average people would find this offensive. No racism is required.

The Nazi party gained support because the Catholic church had whipped up hatred of Jews for 2,000 years and joined in their killing and persecution.

The Catholic church created and reinforced the anti-semitism. The Nazis just channeled the hatred which was already there.

Geez you're right, he is loaded...

He's even vomiting up that discredited bigoted crap again....his attempts to blame the Nazis on the Catholic Church are as bigoted, ignorant and vile as the anti-semitic lies the Nazis themselves spread, and have just as much validity. (He ought to be ashamed of himself but obviously shame does not figure in his make up. That part of the brain simply isn't functioning for him.)

The fact is that the Nazi Party's virulent anti-semitism had almost nothing to do with it's popular appeal beyond the tiny group of cranks that supported it in the first place...

Many of Hitler's votes in the early 30's came from people who voted for the NSDAP in-spite of it's anti-Semitic dogma, not because of it...

It's time to have a little lie down rube....

Interestingly, the one and only 100% verifiable anti-semite on this board is...

You guessed it...

Good old rube....

Here he is declaring Judaism to be an intrinsically racist religion:
The racism towards blacks is contiguous with their racism towards Palestinians (both Christian and Muslim). And it is tied to their religion.
