Proof once again that warped minds think alike!
(but I have suspicions that someone other than you wrote the above comment, based on the way 'weird' is spelled - or is that the British spelling? ... :D)

Where do collective nouns come from? Who declares them to be official? Everybody knows about a Murder of crows. But why a conspiracy of Lemurs? I got into a discussion of this with a group of people at the local Senior Center this morning. We had a good time sharing our ignorance. I suggested 'a foolishness of pedants.

Anybody know how I might suggest this to what ever English language authority how does this sort of thing?

I came up with "a futility of Irish"

Monday I read in the online NY Times an interview with a teacher in Baltimore who has been teaching Sex Ed there since 1986. She started with 11th & 12th graders. Now she has a curriculum going for the entire K thru 12. But there was a little comparison tossed in as a side remark that grabbed my attention. When she started the average classroom teacher in Baltimore had 15 years experience. Now it is THREE years.

That scares me.

Is it bad the I almost want JD Vance to remain relevant just so I can see more of his character on South Park?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Scary indeed, but one of the "benefits" covid delivered; like other professionals, a lot of senior teachers left during or after the pandemic.

The attack on the Mormon church was despicable and extremely sad. OTOH, the good news for evangelicals is that no Christians were hurt.

I cried off and on all day today, even before I heard Jane Goodall died.

Where is this all heading? Is our country going to survive it?

In movies, and TV shows and books and IRL, when a person asks someone, "Do you mind if I ask you a question?" should they not have asked, "Do you mind if I ask you another question?"
Huh?

There's a certain jaw-dropping effrontery when the Trump junta encourages us to believe that "making false statements" is an indictable offense.

In my youth I learned lots off useless information, particularly 'A pint's a pound the world around." The refererence is to the USA common measurement units which include a measure of volume ( a fluid ounce). Sixteen of them make a pint, another unit of volume. The same system also includes a unit name for weight, the ounce. Sixteen of them make up another unit, the pound.

So is there any substance in which a bunch of the stuff at a normal room temperature and humidity will fill a pint measuring cup and also weigh one pound net on a kitchen scale? Is it supposed to be water? My kitchen scale says a pint of my tap water (about 60 degrees F) weights one pound and 0.08 ounces.. pretty close. snailgate.

That MOTHERFUCKER tore down the East Wing of the White House today. The plans for his ballroom aren’t even approved yet.

Every day more shit that feels like the rug is being pulled out from under everything I ever believed in. I FUCKING hate this timeline.

I wish that MOTHERFUCKER would choke on his next Big Mac and DIE. I cannot wait to pour a glass of my urine on his grave. Staying fit and healthy long enough to do that is going to be my new obsession.

Also I am at the point where I can muster zero empathy for all the motherfuckers who voted for him.

I'll vote for the next presidential candidate who promises to tear down the ballroom when elected.

It's time to play "Spot the Sycophantic Toady"

Image

Lockheed Martin, Booz Allen Hamilton, Blackstone, YouTube, Google, Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Meta Platforms, Apple, Coinbase, Comcast, T-Mobile, the Adelson Family Foundation and crypto investors Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, Carrier Global Corp; “President Trump is a builder at heart and has an extraordinary eye for detail” (White House chief of staff Susie Wiles).

"Yes, well spotted. A viewer from Preston there who's pointed out correctly that the entire group are sycophantic toadies"
