I told my wife that she had to lose some weight and I got a sweet smile in return. I guess context really is everything.

What is "outback Steakhouse," or do I not want to know?

It's probably as Aussie as a plastic Paddy pub is Irish. :D

You actually said that to a sentient human being and are still alive? Count your lucky stars, after a comment like that you could be the weight she loses.

For her birthday my wife asked for something that could go from 0-150 in 5 seconds or less. So I bought her a bathroom scale.
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I actually didn't realize what I said I til about 5 minutes later. Trust me in context it as quite sweet. I'm just not comfortable going I to that much detail here.

Don't worry Gob, not all Americans eat in those places. I've never been in an Outback, and do't plant to start any time soon!

Seeing that you remain alive, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt 8-)

Her equanimity must have been the product of the self-help book he got her for Christmas. ;)

I've eaten at Outback resturants. Their steaks are pretty good for the price. The baby back spare ribs are good too. As far as "chain" resturants go, they are better than Applebies, Red Lobster and TGIF by far (IMO).

My favorite resturant, The Long Island Grill, closed down. IT's now a micro brewery which does not work for me.
Gotta find a new favorite local resturant. Until then, the Outback works for me. Not that we go out to dinner much. Outback tends to get really crowded on the weekend starting at about 5pm.

Outback is OK. Best I have had lately is The Steak Loft in mystic, CT.

I've heard Texas might be a good place to find a decent steakhouse.
