if one were to say..., "so and so types like a girl", would that be stereotyping, or, would it be the opposite?

The Geico Gecko turned up on my TV this AM, so evidently8 he's not dead yet, Jim.

he's not a real gecko. Or even a good immitation. Real geckos can't blink. They keep their eyes moistourised by licking them.

I believe once, in the early days, they had the Gecko meet a real one. You are correct, they are not much alike.

I believe that Geico is shifting to other ads, such as the "Operation" man getting operated on, or Peter Pan flying in to a reunion (telling one woman she "doesn't look a day over 75!"), for instance.

Geico has always had other themes in addition to the gecko. Cavemen, the pig, etc. Most of their commercials are entertaining, although I am not big on the peter pan one.

Personally, I couldn't stand the cave men; and that was turned into a TV show (a very short lived one).

A show????
Glad I missed that. I didn't like teh cavemen at first, but they grew on me.
I think the pig was the best.

I hate to say it, but I really enjoyed the pig ads. It was the best of their offerings.

I thought it was funny the first time, but they're running it into the ground...

This one is still my all time favorite:

Jim--I agree.

Meade--what was that last one--a crossover ad for a church at easter? I wonder what they had to pay to use Maxwell. Ditto for the movie announcement.

Thanks for the post.

I have decided never to have a dashboard camera in my car. It's obvious that either my car or one hurtling towards me will crash. And then apparently one becomes Russian

Actually, I sort of miss the old Esurance commercials with the pink-haired "Agent Erin Esurance" character done up in a catsuit like an animated Emma Peel (as played by Diana Rigg).

However, "Rule 34" being what it is, she got 'retired' and put on the shelf for PR reasons entirely unrelated to her appeal or effectiveness as an advertising character.

I met a gypsy fortune-teller recently and asked her if it was likely I'd die sitting on a toilet. (I really don't want that to happen). (Nor does anyone else).

Anyway, she said I'd never die sitting on a toilet

Problem is, if she's correct, shouldn't I sit on the toilet a lot more often to avoid death? But if she's wrong, then sitting on the toilet for extended periods will increase the likelihood of the dread event actually happening there.

I'm dithering

Did he also say to holler at everybody and tell them to "come take a look at this before I flush it?"
Can't help but feel that way with all the video clips you keep posting.
