I cannot abide a bartender who ignores you until you're finishing up and they want to put the check in front of you. I should've given the one I had tonight the 10% tip he deserved…

She said "should've"...which implies that instead of actually doing that, she left a normal (~20%-25%?) tip. I once knew a guy who actually left a BIGGER-than-usual tip for lousy service...and then loudly, publicly verbally berated the tipee for his or her shortcomings. (The big tip, he said, was to insure that the recipient took the criticism seriously and didn't just chalk it up to the customer just being a cheap, no-good prick.)

I'm sure that was a veritable epiphany for the server; (s)he probably thought the service couldn't have been that bad since he left a big tip or that the guy didn't know how to tip and what he was talking about.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

I wish every workday could be like today I took a half day off (morning). So it basically works out that can go into work whatever time I want (before 11:30) and leave 4 hours after that.

So I drive over to the local Luckys a little while ago, to pick up a few things...

It's raining but at that moment not all that hard, and I'm parked less than a 100 feet from the store entrance, so I figure I wont hassle with the umbrella...

I get no more than maybe 20 feet from the car when suddenly a storm cell passes directly overhead...

I hot foot it for the store entrance, but I still wind up pretty much drenched...

I go into the mens room grab a bunch of paper towels, and try to towel off as best I can....

Then I head for the produce section...

While I'm bent over checking out the romaine lettuce, the sprinkler system for keeping the vegetables fresh picks that exact moment to crank up and douses me again...

Some days just be like that...

(I'm not going to tell my kids about it; for some reason every time I relate a story of personal woe like this to them their reaction is laughter rather than sympathy...)

The roadside assistance dude who changed out my flat today in the rain and 4 inches of slush (one of many such jobs for him today) might think he had it worse. He got a tip from me, and my tip to you is go ahead and give yourself a treat!

Having been that guy many times...he's used to it, and dressed for it.

Correct, I left a standard 20%. Didn't like the restaurant much either, so won't be back.

CP, I sometimes worry that one day you're going to show up at work decked out in camo toting an AK-47 and start settling scores...

Based on a lot of what you've posted, you really seem like the poster boy for "disgruntled employee"... 8-)

That's an entirely inappropriate comment/'joke', IMHO.

No big plans this weekend. One day I'll work on the "Daddy do" list at my daughters and the other day is all mine. I think I'll do some wood burning. I still have to do the portrate of Gobs dogs. I think I have a blank ready for that. Sounds like a plan.
but you know something will happen that will de-rail those plans :arg
