Why do people ever buy grapes with seeds in them?

(And don't tell me it's because they taste better, because they don't; I've tried them...)

When you've got Thompson seedless green grapes, and Red Flame seedless grapes, and a variety of seedless black grapes to choose from...

Why would anyone in their right mind choose to buy the "Red Globe" grapes with seeds, that nevertheless somehow manage to stay inexplicably on the produce shelves?

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Because they're cheaper?

While you and I think seedless grapes taste better, some people must like the bitter taste of the seeds. In fact, there are many people who like harsh tasting things like IPA beer. And there are "natural" food seekers who argue for the benefits of eating the seeds; but these people drive old Volvos and usually have unkempt beards.

Or they care about their health:

Grapes are one of the most popular fruits in the U.S., but many people neglect to eat what is perhaps their healthiest feature — the seeds. Grape seeds are rich in powerful antioxidants and natural plant compounds called oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes (OPCs).

OPCs are most well known for their antioxidant activity, which means, at the very least, grape seed may help to destroy free radicals in your body, which in turn may help you avoid premature aging and certain chronic diseases.

However, OPCs also demonstrate a host of other beneficial activities in the body, which may explain why grape seed extract appears to help so many different health conditions while exerting its effects body-wide.

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH):1

"Today, grape seed extract is used as a folk or traditional remedy for conditions related to the heart and blood vessels, such as atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and poor circulation …

… [C]omplications related to diabetes, such as nerve and eye damage; vision problems, such as macular degeneration (which can cause blindness); swelling after an injury or surgery; cancer prevention; and wound healing.

The grape seeds used to produce grape seed extract are generally obtained from wine manufacturers."

So hard the dog didn't want to go fetch the newspaper this monring.
He ended up going and getting it anyway.
I gave him two treats for that.
He was happy.

How is it that an hour in the swimming pool doesn't clean the swimming trunks?

When my dog gets into REM sleep and starts woofing and whining and 'running' in her sleep, I'm always confused as to whether I should wake her - is she happily chasing rabbits with her sister Jenny on the Montana prairie? Or is she reliving the incident, abuse or accident, that left her crippled before I found her?

On grapes: my cistern law firmly believes the big red ones with seeds actually taste better. To the point that whenever I am visiting she will serve something with them included. She cuts them in half, and then removes the seeds with a special tool designed just for that chore.

As a kid, seedless grapes were unknown, and eating 'table' grapes always, no matter how careful I was, included biting into the seeds. I thought that was a horrible flavor and still avoid table grapes today because of that experience. Even if it says 'seedless' I still don't trust those plant breeders to be completely successful. The seedless watermelon is clearly just an approximation.

Rabbits. Always. No doubt.
