Besides my boss and fellow deputy, who I just told first, you all are the next to hear it:
I've been hired!!
I'll be the head prosecutor in another jurisdiction; still in Montana, so still bigskygal.
I'm very excited to be the one who sets policy and to take on that next big challenge in my career, and very excited also for the salary increase, which will afford me the opportunity to pay off my student loans in short order - and FINALLY get to Oz, the UK, Africa and all the other cool places I want to see before I'm old (already grey!).
Thanks again for all the good wishes!! to you all!!
PS - I'll be lots closer to Yellowstone, & my door is (still) open to all who are interested in visiting this terrifically beautiful Last Best Place!!
Congratulations!
Note: a new job IS an appropriate occasion to do a silly dance!
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
I'll be breaking into six figures, which isn't bad for a small town public servant. I'm basically going to make what I would have made at the oil & gas job in Houston, if you deduct out the cost of living increase of living there.
And of course, the difference between living in hot, stinky, huge, paved Houston v. a quiet farming town ringed by three glorious mountain ranges; priceless!
eta: Did I mention my new county has one of the largest bodies of water in Montana?
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
