Wish me luck

Post by Crackpot »

Next week my Mom is having knee surgery and the following few weeks she will be staying with us. It’s not something I look forward to. I have been having a difficult time as is dealing with stress and my mom is excellent driving me up the fucking wall.

Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery.

Best wishes for your Mom and for you. Try to remember, like fiber through the alimentary canal, this too shall pass.

Best of luck. And be sure to spend some time outside of the house to clam down and get your thoughts straight. If I can have my mother in law (the one they bases ALL the mil jokes on) with me for a couple of months, you can deal with your burden. This, too, will pass.

Good luck to the both of you.  The suggestion by Big RR to take some time occasionally to de-compress is excellent.  Do so.

Remember — even if your mother drives you to drink (or worse), she's still your mother.  And once she's gone, you don't get another one.  So enjoy her company while she's still around.  The time will come when all you'll have are your memories of her.  Wouldn't it be better that they were good ones?

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

The good news:
My mom has been on much better behavior than usual.
The surgery went well

The bad news:
Due to an infection she had after surgery years ago the bone around the hardware in her leg was crumbling meaning the hardware as well as a large chunk of bone had to be removed and replaced with cadaver bone and epoxy rendering her non-weight bearing and greatly extending her recovery time (we’d be lucky to get her out by the end of the year)

My wife is definitely sick and my have COVID making everything that much more complicated with follow up appointments etc..

You're doing the right thing. You're being a good son. You're suffering for it. Life ain't fair.

I bet next Tuesday seems like a long way to go. Good luck to all of you.

Hang in there. Like Joe, based on our minimal knowledge of the situation, I think you are doing the right thing. Plus, maybe some good stories or not so fond memories to laugh over one day?

Good luck, CP. I know it is far from easy.
