Home for Random Thoughts

It's such a soothingly sweet little ditty, just like a lullaby.

The way it's sung is almost creepy.

Creepy is the word....

Especially when juxtaposed against the actual opening credits that it plays behind...

For some reason I can't find that on YouTube; only on Vimeo (This is from 2016; there have been a couple of changes in this season's version):

https://vimeo.com/173250809

I think the opening credits sequence for this show (including the song) is one of the most moving and effective I've ever seen for a TV show...admittedly not a really high bar...

(Especially the sequence with the paratrooper's shadows framed against Mt. Rushmore, giving the effect that George and Tom are weeping...)

But the impact lessens some what after you've seen it 20 times...

That series is on my list and has been a long while - is it VERY good?

If you like dystopian alternative reality sci-fi, I highly recommend it...

It's a lot more elaborate than the book; (Dick's daughter Isa Dick Hackett is the show's executive producer) there are currently 30 episodes (three 10 episode seasons) available and it's already been renewed for season 4...

A lot of money and talent is put into the production, and it shows on the screen...

What if there were no rhetorical questions?

    • OK, I just stole that from David Gerrold.

Hey, the title of this thread doesn't say the Random Thoughts have to be our own
original thoughts...and the title of the forum doesn't say what sort of "work" we have to do to post here: stealing stuff can be hard work, too.

Why would I want to answer that question?

Is Joe really asking a question, or making a sarcastic comment?

Interesting. I've often asked myself that very same question.

Is rhetoric really necessary?

When did "chicken and waffles" become A Thing?

To me, that sounds about as appetizing to eat together as "steak and jelly doughnuts" or "salmon and chocolate ice cream"...

When viewed as a lunchtime sandwich it appears to be more palatable. I think I could handle it.

Good call; I've wondered the same thing. There are about 100 sandwich breads or other holders that I would pick before even thinking of a waffle.
