All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Home for Random Thoughts ought to be a stcky.

I don't have very many thoughts but when I do they are definitely random.

I hate it when I can't find this thing before it goes away...

Amazon UK - FAIL when some one pre orders a book from you 19th July 2009 and sits waiting receiving email after email telling them that the release date has been put back and put back and asking do they still want to wait and being told yes they do - doees it not ring a bell that the person really REALLY wants the book? So how come you had the book IN STOCK on Amazon.com and didn't think to tell your preorder customers they could get it from there? How come on the Amazon UK page below the "this book has not yet been published" message are market place sellers listing both New & USED copies of the book sent from within UK? How the hell can it be on frigging EBAY ffs and you still tell me that the book is not yet published? Epic fail Amazon... I just cancelled my preorder and bought it new CHEAPER than my original order with you from a UK marketplace seller through your own website!
If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation.

RB - I believe Amazon has probably made promises to publishers that it will not release other editions before the official release date. For example, the book Stroppy sent me was available on Amazon UK and was out in paper in the UK/OZ before it ever was published in the US. But Amazon couldn't sell the UK version on the US site. I think that's due to an agreement with publishers, which helps Amazon keep their prices down. In the early days, US customers couldn't even buy from the UK website -- but that has changed in the l;ast few years.

At least they provided you access to another way to get the book, right?

Yes they have however, the original publishing date was July 2009, it's been pushed back and pushed back and is still listed as not published on Amazon UK yet the marketplace seller I have ordered it from is a UK bookstore and the book is "in stock shipped from the UK".

The release/publishing date on the publishers website is June 2010 they haven't specified a UK delay to that - I have 8 other titles in the same series also preordered. These books quite often have a very limited run and up to now have always had the same publishing release date worldwide, it was only because wraithfodder tweeted last night that he'd enjoyed the book that I was even aware it was available in the US, I tweeted back to thank him for the heads up this morning to be told he's now reading the next one in the series (also preordered by me on Amazon UK and showing as not yet released).

No. Most of the time I use him for an alternative energy generator.

He actually is the source of the energy for the lamp light in my avatar.

Shared a man moment today.

In the supermarket today I was making to turn into an aisle when a lady in a shopping cart promptly cuts in the way with her cart and stops blocking my path. Her husband (I assume) trailing behind looks up and his expression says it all: "I know. I'm sorry. I've tried, but there is nothing I can do." I nod and smile.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Why do cats always sound like they're asking you a question?
