It's a dragonfly.

Mayflies are fatter & shorter & uglier.

Flatwing Damselfly.

They're a bit skinnier than dragonflies. Pretty pictures, well done! Whenever I try to take pictures of insects they stay perfectly still right until I press the shutter button .

I learned something new today thanks to you, Daisy.

I'd never heard of the damselfly. Apparently they only hang around in Australia and are related to the dragonfly.

Is that correct?

We have a few species of Damselflies and their smaller cousins the Damoiselles in the UK and Europe, that's how I recognised it, I get a few Large Red Damselflies coming into my garden in the summer. They are very pretty and usually bugger off whilst I go and get the camera :)

And yes they are related to Dragonflies.
