Syrian rebels, should we support this?

In other words: a post-Assad Syria is essentiaally guaranteed to be controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood, in fact if not in name.

It's not a guarantee, but the Muslim Brotherhood is far and away the most organized political player in the opposition. It is entirely unclear how much support they will ultimately be able to generate within today's domestic Syrian population, because they have been mostly in exile or underground since Hama. But if the Baath party is outlawed, disbanded or otherwise neutralized, the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood is likely to be the most credible party to fill the power vacuum, in the same way that the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood managed to dominate the election there after Mubarak's overthrow.
GAH!

And that seems to have worked out so well for Egypt, right.
