as the Turkish tanks are arrayed, overlooking the battlefield, Erdogan remarks, "i say, I say old chaps, someone really should help those poor kurds before the fellows are overrun".

Also, not every battle is going to be won by the anti-Daesh side. And some may not even be battles to fight.

ETA:

And I can certainly understand why the Turkish government would be slow to help the Kurds, seeing as how Kurdish paramilitaries have been waging a guerrilla war within Turkey for the last 30 years or so.

We should be relentlessly bombing ISIS there. Also lets get some A-10 warthogs to help the kurds. We don't use them any more even if it was the best ground force attack plane ever built.

The WartHog continues flying.
Now go spank those terrorists. Go in low with your rockets firing and the 30mm blazing. It won't get hurt. It's a tank that flies. Takes a lick and keeps on flying.

unless we assemble a 50 000 man force around bagdad airport, and they just head back to Syria and blow us up along with Bagdad . the prevailing winds will blow it all to iran. the area around chernoble is beautiful now and chock full of healthy wildlife. in fact I would happily move there as part of a medical experiment.
