This Is For You, Lord Jim

In light of tonight's Republican debate taking place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., we thought it would be fun to give young techies a pop quiz on the 40th president of the United States.

Equipped with a photograph of the handsome Reagan, we approached several people attending Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference in San Francisco (ground zero for the tech world) and asked them to identify the man in the photo and name his political party and the person who was vice president when he was in office.

The majority correctly identified Reagan, but a few with hesitation, and one looked to a friend for the answer.

"He was a President?" one woman said with unsureness. "Is that Reagan?"

About half said Reagan was a Republican with certainty, but one woman thought he was a Democrat and a few waffled between the two opposing parties.

"He was a Republican," one said. "No, a Democrat!"

Not bad. We'll give this group of millennials a solid B-minus.

When it came to naming the vice president, everyone failed except one man who was old enough to remember George H.W. Bush as the veep. He also impressively answered the extra-credit question: What was Reagan's favorite candy? Watch the video above to get the answer.

I weep for future generations that might be "tech saavy" but are clueless about very recent American history.

btw: Mrs. Reagan is holding a Charter Arms AR-7 semi-auto .22 rifle. :ok

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.
