I don't get that from him...he seems to want to be America s favorite gay journalist
From the time he first publicly announced that he's gay until a couple of weeks ago in one of his commentary sections at the end of his show, I don't recall him making any reference to his being gay on his program...Nor does he load up his show with "gay issue" news stories...
I would contrast him with Thomas Roberts, the gay news anchor at MSNBC who seemed to talk endlessly about being gay, and loaded up his program with "LGBT community" stories. (Though he seems to have eased off on that since MSNBC has been moving away from it's "All Liberal All The Time" format during their day time programming.)
Erin Burnett is another one at CNN who I think is a pretty good interviewer...I saw her interview Julian Assange a little while back, she came loaded for bear and didn't take any diversionary crap off of him. (At one point she told him that if he didn't want to answer her questions they could end the interview. He probably agreed to the interview thinking she would be a light weight that he could steam roll; he learned differently...)
Wolf Blitzer on the other hand is ready for The Home; he's way past his sell-by date...The questions he asks are frequently bust-out-laughing stupid...
