One person, who cares?
I have to apologise to LJ. My vote this November will be for H R Clinton
Recently I read for the first time (shame on me) about Reconstruction after the Civil War. The author of the ONE book I've read has altered some of my thinking. There is so much more to be learned.
I have just watched "1968" in the CNN series "The Sixties". Still I grieve for Martin and Robert. (And from earlier, Malcolm). I was radical then; marching in London against the war.
What on earth happened to me? There is no cause greater than equality under the law for all people. I may not be happy with the details (and I'm certainly not happy with HRC) but there is, in this country, at present, only one party that offers some hope - not so much of change but of actualization - and that is the Democrat party.
There is so much that is wrong but unless the Republican party recaptures its own roots, I can no longer go along with it.

Congratulations on your moment of clarity.

Are you teasing?

I will neither cast a vote for the hildebeast or Dumph.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I care.
Every vote counts. Every vote matters. Every sperm is sacred, oh wait, wrong thread.....
Seriously, I hope you mean it.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I'm preparing for some kind of April Fools witty rejoinder to pop up soon.BoSoxGal wrote: (Meade) Are you teasing?...

Re: One person, who cares?
No, not teasing.
My wife too although I think she actually paid attention to the speeches. I only watched Trump and Bill Clinton and a bit of Chelsea's which set my stomach churning and prevented me from watching Hillary. Can't stand her. Or her kid.
But it's not about "like" or "loathe". It's about equality.

I would never have chosen her for first woman president, many would be better, but she earned the honor. And she has never done something as disgusting and shameful as selling cigarettes.
I'm very proud of Obama, otoh. Maybe she will grow into the role?

Re: One person, who cares?
As many have said here, Hillary is not auditioning to be your BFF, but for the job of Chief Executive. She will be a sane, steady, competent and presentable President committed to actually doing the job. Aside from being the first woman in the office, which is an achievement in itself, I don't think she'll be particularly inspirational in terms of vision and bold policy initiatives -- she is certainly plenty far from my own views on most issues. But considering the alternative, that's perfectly okay.
As I have said, I'll be voting Democrat this year because Trump and Trumpism must be thoroughly crushed and repudiated by the American people in the most decisive terms possible, in order for this country to retain any shred of decency, dignity and morality. Sad to say the Republicans have abandoned all principle in purging the party of genuine public servants and embracing the crass and belligerent jingoism of Trump. Can you imagine Eisenhower, Ford, Reagan or G.H.W. Bush saying any of the crap that spews forth from that sentient yam's pie-hole?

Re: One person, who cares?
Well, Susan Sarandon had this to say:
Speaking with The Young Turks Politics Reporter Jordan Chariton in California, Sarandon made clear that she believed because of the lack of media scrutiny placed on Clinton’s record, she viewed Clinton as actually more dangerous than the blustery strong-man running on the Republican ticket.

... and since I think Sarandon is even more obnoxious than Clinton...“I believe in a way she is more dangerous,” Sarandon suggested without mentioning Trump’s name, after Chariton asked her why Clinton’s foreign policy went largely unchallenged during the Democratic primary.
“She did not learn from Iraq, and she is an interventionist, and she has done horrible things, and very callously, I don’t know if she is overcompensating or what her trip is,” Sarandon said, adding, “I think we’ll be in Iran in two seconds.”
“So I’m curious to see if anyone brings up these things,” she continued.
“But this is what we’re fed. ‘He’s so dangerous. He’s so dangerous,'” Sarandon said, shrugging off Trump’s most controversial rhetoric as too implausible to be considered a serious threat.
“Seriously I am not worried about a wall being built, he is not going to get rid of every Muslim in this country… but seriously, I don’t know what his policy is. I do know what her policies are, I do know who she is taking money from, and I do know that she is no transparent, and I do know that nobody calls her on it”

Re: One person, who cares?
Apparently Simple Susan is upset by what I see as Hillary's one true redeeming quality...
The fact that she's more of a defense realist than anyone else the Democratic Party would likely nominate...
Not only will she be much better on this then Trump, (who would be a catastrophe of existential dimensions, with his plans to blow up our alliances and get kissy-faced with Russia) in all likelihood she'll be better on it than the current incumbent...(it's tough to imagine her being that timorous...)
Anybody Janet Weiss doesn't like can't be all bad...

Celebrities, is there anything they don't know? << Homer Simpson>>
One Person, Who Cares?
Hillary Clinton = Syrup of Ipecac
Donald Trump = Shit Sandwich
<<< OR >>>
Both have the capacity to make me throw up but I have to consider the process. I'm fairly sure I'd have a better experience with the Ipecac knowing I can control the dosage. But a shit sandwich? I don't know how much shit eating is dangerous. Is one bite enough... is two bites too many?
#ImWithHer wins it. Let the stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system begin. My vomit bucket, please!

I always knew there was something I didn't like about Sarandon. But then, she's an actress, so who cares what she thinks?
