Good to know rube, thanks for the 411...They produce reports on deaths and injuries from: workplace falls, backing vehicles, trench cave-ins, electrocution, confined spaces, handwashing.
They shouldn't be doing any of that either...
I'm not saying those reports shouldn't be done at all; but just what part of Centers For Disease Control don't they understand? (maybe one could make a case for the hand washing thing....)
ETA:
I just took rube's advice and visited their website:
https://www.cdc.gov/
If the really believe what they say in their mission statement, then this is an agency that is seriously out of control...
They basically believe that their charge includes, well, everything:
https://www.cdc.gov/about/organization/mission.htmCDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, [Oh good, we can get rid of the defense department and all of our intelligence agencies; the CDC's got this...] both foreign and in the U.S.
And it's "Pledge to the American People" is so touchy-feely vacuous that' it's scary, given the serious work this organization ought to be focused on; here's one example:
What is this, a government agency charged with protecting the American people from epidemics, or a Liberal Arts college campus?2. Provide an environment for intellectual and personal growth and integrity
This agency needs to be brought down from its grandiose hubris cloud and focused back on diseases and viruses...
No wonder they screwed up so badly with Ebola; if you try to make yourself responsible for everything, then you won't do anything well...
