A 17-year-old Nebraskan too young to cast a ballot has captured enough votes to win the Miss America crown, kickstarting her hopes of going to law school and eventually becoming a politician.
"I want to be there making sure that I stand up for what's right, stand up for integrity and honesty," Teresa Scanlan said after becoming the first Miss America from Nebraska.
She won a $US50,000 ($50,340) scholarship and a year's reign in one of the most visible positions any young woman could seek.
During the nationally televised pageant, Scanlan answered a question about WikiLeaks by saying the United States should focus on security first.
"You know when it came to that situation, it was actually based on espionage, and when it comes to the security of our nation, we have to focus on security first and then people's right to know, because it's so important that everybody who's in our borders is safe and so we can't let things like that happen, and they must be handled properly."
Scanlan said the question was easier for her than a generic one, because she has routinely discussed current events with her family since she was young.

US politics, a step in the right direction.
US politics, a step in the right direction.

We appreciate your optimism on our account, Gob.

(1) She's 17? My god, what will she look like when she's 40?
(2) Forrest Gump, the mythical entrepreneur cum hero/moron, correctly referred to Nebraskans as "corn-shukker jack-offs."
(3) Makes me proud to be an American.
(4) One could do quite a lengthy analysis of her response to that poignant question, and still never be sure what (t.f.) she is talking about. She may have a future in politics.

She has a very 'blocky" muscular physique. Nice definition in her legs.
More athlete than beauty queen in her proportions. Somewhat androgynous.

rubato

I agree Rubato.
For a 17 year ol she is really cut there. I am wondering if it is all entirely 'natural'?
(It probably is. It is just her titties plonked up the top there look like an afterthought? Probably a 'bra' issue.)

Yea, is that a swimsuit or a push up Victoria's Secret™?
Re: US politics, a step in the right direction.
Oddly, "sexy" was not a word that entered my mind when I saw that picture.
But you have to give her credit for her conditioning, she looks to be in fantastic shape.

I agree dgs49, although attractive (I wouldn't even say "pretty",) and with a great figure, there's something un-sexual about her, she looks too contrived.
The fact that she is so young doesn't help either.

She looks like a guy (at least her body does).
