I’ve read about the interview- enough to know I couldn’t stomach watching it. What a disgusting apologist and liar ‘prince’ Andrew is! Just released following the interview are videos showing him partying and putting hands on girls in public exactly in the fashion Andrew claimed he never, ever does.
Another idiot led around by his tinier brain.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

I wonder who in Buckingham Palace believes this pompous asshole?
I bet he was coached by our porn star president as to what to say.

As a total anti-royalist who has modified his view in later life, particularly in the light of misbehaviour by certain other heads of state, I can tell you that for a long time Andrew was the cool one. As the second son but the third child of HM he leapfrogged his elder sister Anne in the royal pecking order under the then rules of primogeniture. They have changed to become gender blind, so that among the current youngest crop of royals, George and Charlotte and whatever the third one is called, Charlotte will retain her spot above her younger brother(s) no matter how many there are.
In his teen years he was known as Randy Andy (and I can attest that that convenient little rhyming handle is commonly applied to those of that nominative persuasion without necessarily being indicative of their proclivities) and at one point his girlfriend was an American soft porn (?? - she was invariably described thus) actress called Koo Stark. This of course raised the tabloid newspapers' collective eyebrows (after all the last royal with an American GF shot his wad [to coin a phrase] and abandoned the throne) and there was a certain level of concomitant enthusiasm for Ms Stark's movies and soft focus photos of her attributes. Actually among all of them including the infamous Sarah Ferguson and their two boondoggling daughters, Ms Stark seems to have been the best behaved. She never wrote a tell-all book or gave any sort of substantive interview about her relationship with HRH.
As a helicopter pilot with the Navy he was in the Falklands war and by all accounts acquitted himself bravely and well and there was even talk at the time of trying to upset the line of succession to the throne and putting him above his elder brother Charles who was widely seen as a monumental wimp. The dashing handsome military hero as opposed to the gloomy chap who talked to his trees, that sort of thing. Charles' marriage to Diana briefly boosted his reputation but we all know how that turned out.
Middle age appears not to have treated Andrew well; and he seems to have lived off his younger reputation for years. I've seen clips of this interview and, as wes and others have pointed, he is not doing the idea of royalty any favours. But in defense of the royalty system (there's a partial sentence I never thought I might write), the boorish sense of self-entitlement of men growing up amid stacks of money is not confined to the royal families of Europe. There's a lot of it about.

We hearken back to the day of yore:
Randy and Koo giving the Queen Mum agita.

I watched the whole bloody thing the other day and fully expected to see his pants ignite into flames.
Mummy has sacked him, taken his taxpayer provided "salary", and she would do well to snatch the HRH privileges as well if she wants the monarchy to retain any credibility.
