I was on a business trip to Cleveland and Akron OH twenty years or so ago, and I decided to make a stop at Kent State. It was March or April and the daffodils were out. The spots where the four students died were marked and protected. I saw three or four guys my age wandering around, obviously on the same mission of remembrance. The students were used to this.
I was in England that day, and it was finals week. We were 3500 miles from Kent. But it hit me, and the rest of us, very hard.

"Ohio" lyrics
Neil Young Lyrics
"Ohio"
Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.
Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?
Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?
Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.
