White House Rose Garden
White House Rose Garden
That CUNT Melanoma has destroyed 60 years of history and turned a lovely colorful garden into an abomination.
I could vomit. I’m so fucking pissed. I hope a future FLOTUS/FGOTUS can raise the funds to restore some of the loveliness that was ripped out.
I fucking hate that BE BEST over made up former nudie model turned mail order bride. She has such trash taste. I can’t believe after her disgustingly ugly holiday displays that she was allowed free reign to remodel such an historic space.
It’s so ugly I won’t even post pictures - you can find them online.

More before-and-after pictures, if you think you can stand them, available here.Where are the roses in the White House rose garden?
Melania Trump’s re-do of the Rose Garden is angering people everywhere. First of all, there are few roses. Second, Melania has drained all the vibrant color from the garden. Third, it looks like she’s chopped down cherry trees planted by Jackie Kennedy in 1961 (of course, Jackie was the wife of JFK, a Democrat...so it's no surprise there that, like her husband and his laser-like focus on wiping out any of his Democratic predecessor, Melania is also busy 'undoing' things done by Democrats).
When Melania makes her “speech” from there on Tuesday night, they’re going to have cart in flowers to make the place look like a garden. Right now, under her command, she’s build an austere, severe graveyard in the back of the White House.
Maybe it’s a metaphor for the 170,000+ her husband has killed while in office. If that’s the case, then my hat is off to her.
You know, with Trump himself busy gutting the USPS, and 'suspending' the payroll tax that is the funding source for Social Security, and (I read elsewhere) also suspending repayments on tens of millions of government student loans, and now this ... vandalism of the Rose Garden by the First Bimbo, I wonder if Trump has resigned himself to his inevitable loss in November and this is part of Trump's endgame — a "scorched-earth" policy to smash, damage, and destroy whatever he can, leaving only ruins and rubble for Biden and Harris to find when they take over in January. It will then also force them to either become the "bad guys" in the public's eye when the bill comes due in April for those missed tax payments or those deferred loan payments or have to start their administration from a disadvantage by forgiving those payments ... that is, not requiring taxpayers to make up those payments when Tax Day in April 2021 comes around ... and having to make up that revenue from some other source by either raising taxes or cutting/defunding public services elsewhere.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

Re: White House Rose Garden
For going on four years now, I've tried not to hate her, resisted the slut-shaming, excused her many missteps on the grounds that this was not the world she chose for herself, this was not what she signed up for when she took off her clothes and seduced and married an American millionaire/playboy/"celebrity". Even the Christmas trees I could excuse as a temporary display of a different (if slightly odd) aesthetic...
But this...this just goes too far. And it and shows not just a weird personal taste or style, but a willful disregard for history, tradition, consensus, and heritage. Especially—even more than the rose bushes—the cherry trees. I wonder if they'll burn down the White House when they leave.

The British already did that during the war of 1812.I wonder if they'll burn down the White House when they leave.

Yeah, but the USA was at war with Britain at the time, and they did it in direct retaliation for the earlier burning by the US of York (present-day Toronto), the capital of the colonial province of Upper Canada (present-day Ontario).

FGOTUS? As in 'First Gentleman of the US' ? So we are now coining acronyms for positions that do not yet exist, on the supposition that it's going to happen sooner or later?
But why stop there? Presuming that the country survives Trump, the coronavirus, and this coming election, it is not inconceivable to assume/acknowledge that at some time an openly gay/lesbian politico may find themselves in the Oval Office. What sort of term are we going to apply to that person's partner?

Re: White House Rose Garden
I'm confused. There are two gardens between the WH structure and the South Lawn. The Eastern one is traditionally called the Jackie Kennedy Garden while the Western one is the Rose Garden. They are similar in size and appearance - a rectangular lawn with trees/roses along the edges. Similar but not exact - judging from Google Earth the one adjacent to the West Wing is a little larger.
Obviously I am no fan of Trump45 or Melania. But putting a path in to ease access seems like a good idea. And, at least according to the WH, the trees have been moved and not chopped down. (And yes, the WH is not famous for the accuracy of its statements.)
Of all the Trump family doings over the last 3 3/4 years (and of course for a long time before that) this is way down my list of things to get upset about.
And PS: the word you are looking for is rein, not reign.

Re: White House Rose Garden
The trees torn out were not cherry, they were crabapple. They were chosen because they’re in the same family as the rose (so are cherry trees, for that matter) and they bloom abundantly in spring serving as a wonderful host for pollinators. Tearing out those trees is what makes me insanely crazy angry about this design; I could have tolerated the rest of it had she not torn them out. Allegedly they were saved for replanting elsewhere on the WH grounds, so *hopefully* they can be restored to the Rose Garden in the next administration.
JFK commissioned the Rose Garden after visiting European capitals and seeing the importance of gardens there as habitable spaces - and he specifically requested an abundance of color and variety, which is the hallmark of a well designed garden anyway. Yes there are monochromatic garden schemes but in most instances they’re ugly.
Removing the trees from the Rose Garden, a space heavily used for WH events in a city of sweltering heat for 6-7 months of the year, is just fucking stupid, anyway.

And sorry the fucking autocorrect fucked up the word rein; interestingly it still works in this context but I can see why you’d want to point it out because I’m clearly fucking borderline illiterate and need constant assistance in my use of the English fucking language.

(In case any lingering doubt, that’s all contemptuous sarcasm, dear.)

Re: White House Rose Garden
Declaring it "free reign", in this particular instance, rather than "free rein", is not that inaccurate given that free reign is indicative of the exercise of sovereign power.

Melanoma in not without a certain aesthetic sense; it's just that her aesthetics are remarkably similar to Albert Speer's.

In other news from the site Scooter linked:
An asteroid is expected to hit earth just before the 2020 U.S Election.
That would be 2018 VP1 which actual scientists, who measure these things, estimate to have about a 0.4% chance of 'hitting' earth. Of course it won't reach the ground even if it does get here, as it will burn up in the atmosphere. The energy dissipated as it does so might break a few windows if we are very unlucky.
