Please, I know about the principle of suspension of disbelief when reading literature, but I am have a very hard time accepting that the posted quote from Don Jr. is real. If it is real this is not 'trash' It is something far more scary, given this family has tremendous power and influence.

It is sort like when the popular Hollywood star Ronny Raygun as he was later known, recommended Camel Cigarettes for Christmas gifts for everyone. Most people understood that this was a paid performance and he was an actor just reading lines that were handed to him. But the MAGA folk, and most of the GOP elected officials at all levels today take the pronouncements from this family as more dependable guides to personal behavior than the words of Ann Landers or their local Christian Identity Pastor.

I do give exceptional attention to the words the first lady displays on the back of her jacket.

To be fair to Donald Trump Jr (and I don't know why I am), as I recall there are to ways to evaluate cancer, the Stage (which is based on how the cancer is "progressing and is ranked 1 - 4) and cancer grade (which is based in cell morphology and is ranked, as I recall, from 1-10 or 1-8, I'm not sure). It would be easy to confuse the two, especially by someone like Jr who has inherited his father's tendency to pontificate things he has no real knowledge of. Of course the reports did say Stage 4, but when did a Trump ever care about the truth?

And FWIW, I doubt Jill Biden is Joe's physician; most physicians I know do not treat family members (even though they may colosely monitor the treatment with the treating physician. But Jr thinks he has a father who can do anything..., so he's just projecting that idiocy on the Bidens.

These are really two different things. Staging of a cancer is in general terms based on progression of disease. Prostate cancer is additionally classified on the Gleason scale, which looks specifically at the most prevalent type of cancer cells found on biopsy to assess how aggressively that particular tumor is likely to grow. The ultimate Gleason "score" combines the findings for the two most prevalent types of cell in a tumor and ranges up to 10 for the most aggressive disease. You can have a Gleason score of 9 based on tumor composition and still have a Stage 1 cancer based on limited size and lack of metastasis. The Donalds Trump are simply spreading their own ignorance and misinformation, which just makes it harder for the general public to understand cancer diagnoses.

Republicans and their sockpuppets in the press are already turning this into an orgy of "what did they know and when did they know it". This NYT article gives a good explanation for why Biden would not have been screened for prostate cancer in the past decade or so, and even if he had, why it might not have been caught until recently anyway. Also some interesting info about prevalence, treatments and life expectancy that I didn't know before, even with all the research I had done into my own case.

If there is an upside, this could lead to greater public awareness and understanding of prostate cancer.
