I hope the new guy learns to count better - the King doesn't like bad newsWASHINGTON, Sept 5 (Reuters) - U.S. job growth weakened sharply in August while the unemployment rate increased to nearly a four-year high of 4.3%, confirming that labor market conditions were softening and sealing the case for an interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve this month.
The Labor Department's closely watched employment report on Friday also showed the economy lost jobs in June for the first time in 4-1/2 years. Job growth has shifted into stall-speed, with economists blaming President Donald Trump's sweeping import tariffs and an immigration crackdown that has reduced the labor pool.

For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

I hope the American people are learning to vote better. You live in Trumpland, what do the people around you think of how things are going?MajGenl.Meade wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 5:04 pmI hope the new guy learns to count better - the King doesn't like bad news

The people directly around me . . . Christians . . . think it's hell in a hand basket and Trump is anathema.
Some people I know . . . Christians . . . who are not around me are a little bit taken aback that the lump is not a financial and commercial genius but still in the mode of "but he's right about men competing as women. And stopping illegal immigration is a good idea. And I like that he's trying to do something about crime. It's about time. Where are the Epstein files tho?"
People I don't know but who seem to inhabit the lower class environs are "Trump in 28 and 32 and"
It is all rather depressing and hateful. Especially because the only viable opposition Dems seem to have shot themselves in the foot and then the head

Rather depressing and hateful? That’s a mild description I think, and I live in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts, according to a scary number of my neighbors.
Social media is a whole other level of hate. Sometimes I find myself hoping they’re Russian bots because it makes me sick to my stomach to think they are my neighbors.
Yesterday I made the mistake of posting a thank you to my governor for issuing a directive mandating I be able to get the COVID vaccine in my own town and my insurance has to pay. Hundreds of people reacted and commented attacking me in the most vile ways for wanting to protect my health. None of those people are being forced to vax or mask anymore and they want me to die - I hope you die from those worthless shots you stupid b*tch you stupid clown you stupid sheeple.
I know, I need to stop going on socials.
Listening to Alyssa Slotkin on MSNBC just now talking about how people across the spectrum are angry and scared about their lousy quality of life and inability to do for their kids what was done for them and turning instead to grievance against each other and to lapping up the pablum served by a dictator. Fix it, daddy.
I’ve been fantasizing about leaving the country but I look around and populism is rising all over so? Anyway I have the dog and the car note now too. I do plan to leave the minute the dog is gone because I don’t see things improving much over the next decade here even if we lose Trump I doubt we’ll lose this fixed game economy so grievance isn’t going anywhere and now we all know how much we are capable of hating each other.

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
