Evil NGOs are behind it all
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts
Re: Evil NGOs are behind it all
Donald deferred to Miller because he didn't know what an NGO was. And then he had a mental weave moment which cause another minor stroke and he rambled on about those serious beautiful brand new hammers and expensive granite curbs.
The Donald is completely nuts and all those people around him continue to enable and support him.

Trump might be nuts, but let me ask you this: how did he get the left to pay for his first presidential campaign? What does that say about you guys?Joe Guy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:58 amDonald deferred to Miller because he didn't know what an NGO was. I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

If he can, he might be remembered as a great president. First, he took the war on drugs and actually made it a war. He got NATO nations to increase their defense spending. He controlled the border when others said it couldn't be done. If that had happened earlier, we wouldn't have the level of illegal immigration we had, and it wouldn't have become an issue. if liberals had done something about it. He would have never won.Joe Guy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:58 amDonald deferred to Miller because he didn't know what an NGO was. The liberal news media provided him with all the publicity he needed, and the hate. That caused a lot of people to take a closer look at him. The radical left was so strongly against him. Maybe he's right. You just couldn't help yourself; you had to hate him in public. You would have been a lot wiser to hate him in private. But every time you made a mean or nasty statement about him, you brought him sympathy.

Leaving aside your asinine conflation of "you" and "liberal news media" . . . as if Joe Guy or anyone posting here is or has ever reported news in the media . . .liberty wrote: ↑Wed Sep 17, 2025 4:50 amThe liberal news media provided him with all the publicity he needed, and the hate. Leaving that aside, you would have a point if you restricted it to commenting that Trump loved (and perhaps did gain support from some proto-sapiens) the excessive publicity his insane and disgusting personality justifiably earned in all honest media.

I don't know--maybe the same way he got Mexico to pay for the wall?

Well, Mexico is paying for the wall. I mean, at least Mexicans are paying for the wall, the same difference as far as I'm concerned. It’s only a 1% tax on remittances sent to Mexico, but it’s the camel’s nose under the tent, and it will amount to enough to pay for the wall over time.

Whether NGOs are evil or not, I couldn't say. But I do know that Paul Theroux, the author of Black Star Safari: Overland from Cairo to Cape Town, doesn't think much of NGOs. He believes they cause more harm than they fix. In his opinion, they make Africans dependent, like little children who will never be allowed to stand on their own.

He's not alone in that. But the book was written 25 years ago and both givers and receivers have learned for the most part not to invent solutions to problems that are not solutions at all. It's less a matter of causing harm and more a matter of providing (at great expense) something that is not needed and cannot be sustained by local resources. I guess that's harmful to the funders whose money has been wasted and it don't help the locals either.liberty wrote: ↑Wed Sep 17, 2025 6:19 pmWhether NGOs are evil or not, I couldn't say. Actually it's governments who are much better at delivering useless, really expensive toys that the locals don't want and from which they gain no benefit. Think high speed rail, airports, and roads to nowhere (yes there are).

You’ve failed this semester of Trumpanese. You can re-register for next semester, but unfortunately, the failure will be recorded on your transcript.Big RR wrote: ↑Wed Sep 17, 2025 7:03 pmSureWell, Mexico is paying for the wall. Still, don’t despair too much. Trumpanese is a very limited language, and I suspect it’ll be considered archaic within three years.

When people think of Ethiopia, they think of famine, especially the devastating crises of the 1980s, during the era when the Communist regime had seized control. It’s true that Ethiopia has faced recurring famines, partly due to its challenging geography. But this disaster was made far worse by Communist mismanagement. Even today, many Ethiopians still go hungry. While some seasons bring relief, most people live harvest-to-harvest.
Recently, however, Ethiopians pulled off a remarkable feat: the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance (GER) Dam. This project could change everything. With proper irrigation, vast areas of land could be transformed into productive farmland—perhaps even supporting large-scale industrial agriculture.
The most impressive part is that Ethiopians did this themselves. It was their vision, their idea. They raised most of the money, did the hard work, and provided nearly all the labor. In the process, they gained valuable skills, carpentry, plumbing, concrete work, steelwork, electrical work, engineering, and construction, that can now be applied to other projects across the country.
It’s a model of self-reliance and ambition that other African nations might do well to emulate.

I understand now ... 'Trumpanese' is the current term for what used to be called 'gibberish' or 'babbling'.liberty wrote: ↑Wed Sep 17, 2025 8:47 pmYou’ve failed this semester of Trumpanese. You can re-register for next semester, but unfortunately, the failure will be recorded on your transcript.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?
