Damn, you captured a typo for posterity. :arg

You say Antifa
I say Anifat
let's say we call the whole thing off?
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

Oh my the things my mind does. Strange thoughts as I read the comments about RBG above, I had the strangest question: Could RBG have been a forward scout for that most dangerous internal terrorist organization, the Anti-Fascists? She certainly seemed to me to take special attention to any way she could hinder fascist activity.

I had so much fun! Our rally was on the Taunton Green, which is in the center of our downtown and is a square version of a Massachusetts rotary so there is lots of traffic all day long.

I was positioned by the one traffic light on our rotary (it’s a weird rotary, hard to explain and we all love to hate it lol) so I had lots of hostage viewers of my sign (We <3 America! Sic semper tyrannis!) and listeners of my chants ‘no kings, no crowns, democracy must stick around!’ I made a lovely new friend and met lots of very nice folks - lots of middle age and older, but also lots of young folks too. It was a super positive vibe and we had about 75% positive response from motorists, some who drove around the rotary multiple times to honk and cheer and wave their own flags and signs out the windows of their cars. Probably a few hundred at the rally, we lined the Green all around so everyone had to see us.

We also had a few dickheads in trucks with big Trump flags who drove around and screamed at us and a couple of micropenises with glass pack mufflers who did their best to choke us with exhaust fumes while they flipped us off and shouted Trump shit at us.

I can’t speak at present because I chanted and cheered myself hoarse.

My favorite sign of the rally:

I took the train in to Philly with an old pal from high school who recently re-patriated to the US after 35 years in Japan. (Here I will avoid a whole tangent about that.) The train was packed with a decidedly older crowd, and I frankly wondered whether we were all going to a senior citizens march. Once in town the average age of the assembled dropped significantly, but still skewed heavily toward boomers and gen xers. Fewer millennials/gen z than I had expected, but my youngest and a friend of hers joined us at City Hall. Because of topography it was hard to get a read on how many people were there, but it was a very Philly crowd: lots of signs and chants of "No Kings, Go Birds!" Saw Jamie Raskin speak at Independence Hall (he's a very good speaker!). My favorite sign ( possibly): "Wait, is there anyone here who *isn't* Antifa?"
GAH!

I took part in the 'No Kings' demo in St Matthews, a suburb of Louisville - I went to this one because I thought that parking would be impossible downtown where the main demonstration was scheduled. I don't know if others had the same idea - I had expected to be one of perhaps a couple of hundred but my estimate was that there were at least 2000 people there. This was on Frankfort Avenue, a busy and major street through the suburbs and downtown, and almost every car that went by honked in support. Most of the signs were handmade and I'd say that the majority of the crowd was 50+ . All in all I was proud to be part of the crowd and reports I am reading show huge numbers all over the country including solidly red 😊 Republican states such as Kentucky. There is reason to be optimistic.

Some excellent signs, almost all handmade. Plenty of 'No Kings' t-shirts. There was one truck that shouted abuse at us, but I think just the one. Although KY is solidly red (our Senators are McConnell and Rand Paul) we have a D Governor: Andy Bashear who cannot run again in 2027. There has been talk of his running for President. And Louisville, as an urban center and a University town, is solidly D. Frankly I doubt that a D candidate can win the KY governorship next time around. Bashear won narrowly in 2019 because Bevin, the prior R governor, was such an asshole that even the Rs thought he was too much and sat on their hands at election time.
