Police in Portland, Oregon, say they will re-open a case concerning former Vice-President Al Gore. They said they will investigate the case further in an effort to shed light on a 2006 incident.
“The Portland Police Bureau has made the decision to re-open the case regarding the allegations brought forward against Mr. Al Gore,” Portland police said.
Late last month, it was revealed that Mr. Gore was accused of “unwanted sexual contact.”
Mr. Gore’s spokesman said the renewed investigation “will only benefit Mr. Gore.”
A masseuse therapist told police in a prepared statement in 2009 that she was “repeatedly subjected to unwanted sexual touching” by the former Vice President in 2006.
Police have said in past statement that there was not evidence to bring charges against Mr. Gore. The police bureau said last week that it disclosed the matter after a story appeared in the tabloid National Enquirer.
Last month, Mr. Gore and his wife, Tipper Gore, separated after nearly forty years of marriage.
Personally, I have a hard time with this. Primarily because I have a very difficult time imagining that tedious, pompous, bloviating blowhard, having any sort of sexual interests whatsoever. I've always been under the impression that he probably saves his amorous feelings for the man in the mirror...
On the other hand, the woman in question apparently never went public with this before, which tends to give her some credibility....
It will be interesting to see if any other women come forward. Usually if a person does this sort of thing, they don't do it just once, (unless perhaps he was shit faced drunk) they usually engage in a serial pattern of harassment, like Clinton did.
