She has an over-the-top delivery, and the car metaphors got to be a bit much towards the end, but this
was THE zinger line of the convention.in Romney’s world, the cars get the elevator; the workers get the shaft

True.
It just seems so foreign to the way Australian and British politicians, majors and ministers behave at conventions.
More Hollywood than Holyrood.

She's a good speaker in a number of ways, good energy, good volume, good specificity and body language (pointing to each delegation and giving the numbers of jobs putatively 'saved' in their state). Nice looking. Wears clothes well. She has one deficit, her mid and upper register is shrill and grating. When she slows down she keeps her voice in the lower register. Also crafting her delivery to avoid rising intonations which start in the mid-range which can get her into trouble.
I didn't think much of the line. "the workers get the shaft" is a pretty hackneyed punchline although Romney's car elevator really needed a little ribbing. (he actually has an elevator for his cars?)

According to David Brooks...rubato wrote:(he actually has an elevator for his cars?)
Some have said that Romney’s lifestyle is overly privileged, pointing to the fact that he has an elevator for his cars in the garage of his San Diego home. This is not entirely fair. Romney owns many homes without garage elevators and the cars have to take the stairs.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.
