Yes, I'm well aware of what I posted, did you like it so much that you felt the need to repeat it?

They have a saying in Puerto Rico,” After a couple drinks, every Puerto Rican is for independence”. They should have the courage to go for it. Independence for Puerto Rico and prosperity for Honduras.
Soon, I’ll post my farewell message. The end is starting to get close. There are many misconceptions about me, and before I go, to live with my ancestors on the steppes, I want to set the record straight.

The Peace Corps just pulled out of Honduras, which has the highest murder rate in the world.

Why do we want them to become a state?

If we absolutely needed to have a Central American country added as a state, (a need which I really don't feel has been demonstrated) Costa Rica would be a much better choice...

Costra Rica is a peaceful country that has strong, stable democratic institutions, and has had them for some time.

They would make a much better fit.

Now, before one of our funny talkin' marmite eatin' cricket watchin' furriner members says this, let me go ahead and say it for them:
Costra Rica is a peaceful country that has strong, stable democratic institutions, and has had them for some time.

Costa Rica also has a very large ex-pat American community . . . which probably would NOT like Costa Rica to become a US State, subject to federal taxation. The whole reason they've moved there is to avoid paying US taxes and the US cost of living. ;)

No, they would not start off as a state. At first, they would be a territory for predetermined period of time with no extension. I am thinking twenty five years. Think of it as a kind of a political engagement. At the end of that period of time, we may decide to not go through with it or they may decide to pull out and return to an independent republic.
I know about the crime situation in Honduras it is one of the problems we would have to fix before we could consider statehood. I can understand a high crime rate in a country like Honduras. Unlike the US they have real poverty, watching your children die of malnutrition poverty. The US marshal service would have a real law enforcement job again, but reducing the poverty would do more to reduce crime.
