There is a school of thought within the growing Stop Trump movement (nice to see this finally happening) that the best way at this point to prevent a Trump nomination is to shoot for a contested convention. This strategy involves the three remaining candidates staying in and picking up wins in various states and accumulating delegates in order to deny Trump an outright majority prior to the convention.it proposed no alternative to Trump, so he continues to 'win' with the majority split among many others.
Of course not, Scooter. They're looking for intelligent life.Scooter wrote:

GWB was Pericles compared to Trump...any system which allows Bush The Chimp or Trump the insane,
Why don't you just make that your sigline and save yourself the key strokes?Your system is nuts.
In my view it's pretty much equally insulting to the Roosevelts' memory if he was.Lord Jim wrote:Oh, was he comparing Drumpf to them? I thought he was comparing Mr. Reagan to them...
I predict that BOTH conventions will be very divisive this year, and that both will be visited by massive public protest outside the convention venue.Lord Jim wrote:Ordinarily a contested convention is the very last thing a party wants, because it's extremely divisive. About the only thing worse would be a Trump nomination...
They said it because it is a condition of being a candidate that you agree to support the eventual nominee. If they said otherwise, they would disqualify themselves. What they do in the secrecy of the voting booth will be another matter entirely.wesw wrote:all the ones on stage last night said that they would....
that is big.
I have heard this before when others were elected. Never seen anyone move.If Trumpy is elected I am moving abroad.
First of all, I'm not sure any rule requires that candidate always support the eventual winner. Second, an endorsement speaks much louder than any one man's vote, and could sway some to vote Trump who otherwise would not do so. Politics or no, there's no excuse for this sort of pledge.Scooter wrote:They said it because it is a condition of being a candidate that you agree to support the eventual nominee.
