Empty boasting without any substance, it's no wonder you're a Trump supporter, in that respect you clearly are just like him.

RR, I was speaking to jim, and I was referring to jim s comments.

he took care to generalize, for effect. he took care to be rude and insulting.

it was effective, tho perhaps not in the way that he wished.

he hardens our hearts.

the support for trump is just a side effect of our corrupt and dishonest political reality.

we are sick of it.

eta...

but like trump, the trumpanzees are happy warriors...., we are sorry, it s just one of those little things in life....

you have heard trump s adopted theme song, right?

you heard it here first, tho it was dismissed as irrelevant to the thread... 8-)

Wes, perhaps, but I would not take a general comment personally, however rude and/or insulting I found it to be. Politics does indeed make strange bedfellows, and any one of us might well find ourselves standing shoulder to shoulder with people who we would otherwise avoid because we support the same candidate or are fighting for the same things, albeit for different reasons; I learned that years ago in the anti war and civil rights movements.

Support Trump if you want for whatever reason(s) you choose, but don't think every comment lobbed at Trump or his supporters is aimed directly at you.

And FWIW, (In your heart you know he's right) Barry Goldwater notwithstanding, I would recommend voting with your head, not your heart. It seems hearts are easily deceived and hardened.

rr, I took me many , many years to get to the point where I am.

my heart can no longer convince my mind that everything is gonna be ok.

we need immediate, substantial political change.

if we do not get that I believe that there will be horrible upheaval and siffering, here and thru out the world.

you may think I am misguided, but I am not being guided by my heart in this.

that s why it is good that jim has hardened it. I am free to think without it s encumbrances.

i like jim. the situation in Belgium even helped me to understand his position on interrogation better.

jim, your side has not offered a better alternative.

i don t believe that you will vote for trump, but i also don t believe that you will vote for Hillary either.

Well, I am not a Hillary supporter, but I would clearly vote for her if Trump or Cruz were the republican nominee as I would not want either of them in the White House.. Sometimes you vote FOR a candidate; other times you vote against the other candidate. In this case, it would be the latter.

As for your being "misguided", I think you're wrong, but your as entitled to your opinion as anyone else.

WTF? :loon

Did you have the same reading teacher as rube Wes? I have gone out of my way, repeatedly to not generalize all Trump supporters as having the same motivations or all being the same sort of people. there's probably no one on this board who has taken pains to do this more than I have. Here are just a few of many examples:
It would be unfair, (and untrue) to say that all of Trump's supporters are racists. (There's an array of misguided reasons that people support Trump) but it would be fair to say that just about all the racists are Trump supporters...
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13607&p=194569&hili ... ns#p194569
Another part are well meaning but badly misguided people who have been so turned off by traditional politicians that they haven't been participating in the process, who have now fallen for his con job....

And another part are racists and xenophobes who haven't previously had a "mainstream" candidate who reflected their ignorant prejudices sufficiently to get them to vote...
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13607&p=195021&hili ... ed#p195021
I don't think every single Trump supporter is an idiot wes, (some are people who are just so blinded by anger at "the establishment" that they are not thinking things through clearly)...

...BTW, there's one group of Trump supporters that are not stupid, angry or misguided...

These are the people who have a personal finacial interest in supporting Trump
And I've also repeatedly criticized comparisons between Hitler and Trump, and Trump supporters and Nazis, and pointed out that there are numerous and varied motivations for why people have supported Trump. And in addition to criticizing the Nazi analogies, and the phony storm trooper group story, I've also criticized the groups that have made it their stated aim to shutdown Trump campaign events...

So, I absolutely do not get where you come up with this idea that I'm "taking care to generalize" about the motives of Trump supporters, when exactly the opposite is the case... :shrug

I have no idea what he's talking about either, Scooter.  I'm an "easy mark", "easy to hang a nick name on", "easy to injure"?  I don't recall any nickname he's used that has reduced me — or was apparently meant to reduce me — to a whimpering, blubbering puddle of hurt feelings, begging for him to show mercy.  As for "easy to injure"?  I think he has mistaken my unwillingness to suffer fools gladly for being "easy to injure".

Ah well.  I give Mr. Comb-Over until the convention to keep himself in the spotlight.  There is no way I can see him coming away from Cleveland with the nomination, no matter how dysfunctional the Republican Party has become by that time.  Trump's best chance now is to try not to burn any more bridges with the party leaders and hold out for getting the nod as the VP candidate on either a Cruz or Kasich-headed ticket — although even the possibility of this pompous asshole being "a heartbeat away from the presidency" might still be a deal-breaker to the American voter come election day in November.

The GOP convention is in Cleveland...

I'd be much happier if he were running for the nomination that will be awarded in Philly... 8-)

Oops, myself.   Got the two mixed up.  I've corrected it in the original post.
Now, if you'll excuse me, it's primary day here in Wisconsin.  I have to go vote for some people and against some others.

oh bill....

there was a thread where you were honest, and that is what opens you up to attack, if a person wished to attack.

there was a thread you moved, and made a heartfelt attempt to be kind, revealed hard truths about yourself, that opens you up to attack...., if a person wished to do so.

nick names are similar. they only stick if they ring true. giving them is a skill that can be used positively or negatively.

"low energy", rang true....

"lyin' ted", rings true....

even "the Donald", rings true...., he is one of a kind.

"what is Donald like"?

"well..., he s like Donald..., he s "the Donald".

honestly is difficult, that s why Hillary avoids it.

for her it could be fatal.

maybe literally fatal, depending on who the truth threatens....

So be cold, cruel, callous, and heartless or you will be seen as weak and vulnerable.
I don't know where you picked up that line of thinking; I sure don't think you learned it from your mother.

Trump is coming tomy neck of the woods this evening. Supposed to be between 10,000-12,000 there.
I will not be there.
Hope it doesn't screw up my commute home.
It shouldn't but we never know what will screw up traffic.

Obama came to NY one time and some piper cub was flying out here around LI Macarthur airport (far away from where Obama was landing) and the fighter jets were scrambled and were buzzing the plane near the LIExpressway (landing path takes planes over the LI expressway) and that screwed up traffic.

Well, this should certainly put a few more nails in his political coffin:
Trump plans a series of policy speeches

GOP front-runner Donald Trump, facing a likely setback in Tuesday's Wisconsin primary, plans to shift gears in the coming weeks, and give a series of policy speeches in settings more formal than the freewheeling rallies that have become his political signature.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said in an interview Tuesday that a memo published by The Washington Post detailing how Trump plans to get Mexico to pay for his proposed border wall[ yeah, that one's a real lulu... :loon ] is a prelude to a series of moves that flesh out the policies that Trump has been speaking about in general terms in his rallies and in interviews.

Among the topics he will address are how to strengthen the nation's military, specific education reforms and the criteria by which a President Trump would select Supreme Court justices. The campaign hopes to stage those speeches in settings such as economic clubs in various cities and possibly the National Press Club in Washington, Lewandowski said.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/pos ... -speeches/

When Trumpty wanders away from his toxic roadshow to try and talk policy it never goes well for him...

Like that foreign policy interview fiasco with the Washington Post last week...

The reason's pretty simple; he doesn't actually know anything about any substantive issues or policy decisions the country faces, so when he talks about them, (or even worse, fields questions from people who actually do know something about them) this becomes painfully and publicly obvious...

In the past I would have said, "Well so what, it's not like his supporters care that he doesn't know anything; in fact some of them see it as a plus", but it appears that Trump has finally hit a support ceiling that is not high enough to win the nomination, and exposing the fact that he doesn't know anything about anything will certainly help assure that his support grows no further. (and it might even start to bring in some of his supporters that are actually starting to have doubts about him.)
