There's a lot of inaccurate history in that map.  Mexico did not become an independent country until 1821; what this is showing are the holdings of SPAIN in North America as of 1794.  And by 1800 Spain had lost much of the eastern and northern portion of those holdings to France through the Treaty of San Ildefonso, holdings which Bonaparte of France sold to the US in 1803 (the Louisiana Purchase) — which is what actually gave the United States most of what is now the western half of the country.

As noted, Mexico became independent of Spain itself in 1821; this map shows the boundaries of Mexico at that time:

As history progresses, we have the Republic of Texas eventually kicking Santa Anna's ass, becoming independent of Mexico themselves and carving away at the map even further following the Treaties of Velasco.  Then came the Mexican-American war (1846-48), which resulted in Mexico ceding almost all of their holdings west from Texas to the Pacific Ocean to the United States under the terms of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.  Then came the Gadsden Purchase of 1853, resulting in the US-Mexican border as it exists today.


So the first point is that all the land shown in Scooter's map was never actually "Mexico" to begin with.
Secondly, that part of what is now the US which was "Mexico" after 1821 was either lost in battle/ceded by treaty (Treaties of Velasco and Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo) or by outright sale (Gadsden Purchase of 1853).  So the young nation that was the United State won it or bought it fair and square.

Now that this asshole is apparently the Republican nominee-presumptive, when is he going to start outlining just HOW he intends to do all these fabulous things?  So far, all he has been doing is running around like a little kid on the playground, telling the other kids that "you'd better quit picking on me or I'm warning you, you'll really be sorry."   So what else has he got?

Any day now I'm expecting to hear a version of "I'll get my big brother after you, and then he'll fix you good!"

Revealing his utter ignorance, Trump threatens to default on U.S. debt and crash the global economy.

Yesterday, Donald Trump gave an interview to CSNBC in which, among other things, he described his approach to the national debt. And it’s awful. Just awful.

Trump said in a television interview Thursday that he might seek to reduce the national debt by persuading creditors to accept something less than full payment.

Asked whether the United States needed to pay its debts in full, or whether he could negotiate a partial repayment, Mr. Trump told the cable network CNBC, "I would borrow, knowing that if the economy crashed, you could make a deal.”

He added, "And if the economy was good, it was good. So, therefore, you can't lose.”

So the United States of America is going to go to lenders and tell them, "we want to borrow from you, and maybe you'll get everything paid back, and maybe you won't."

And the world economy reverts to the barter system.
