Drumpf showed just how serious he is about uniting the party and expanding his appeal...

By attacking the female, Hispanic, Republican governor of New Mexico:
Trump accuses New Mexico’s Republican governor of not doing her job

ALBUQUERQUE — Despite his promise to unite the Republican Party, Donald Trump attacked New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez — the chairwoman of the Republican Governor’s Association — on Tuesday night and accused her of “not doing the job."

Martinez has been critical of Trump and did not attend his Tuesday night rally at a convention center in Albuquerque, telling the local media she was “really busy” running the state. In turn, Trump stood before thousands of the people she represents and told them that the two-term governor is to blame for many of the state’s economic problems, including a dramatic increase in the number of residents receiving food stamps over the past 16 years.

“We have got to get your governor to get going,” Trump said to a cheering audience. “She’s got to do a better job. Okay? Your governor has got to do a better job. She’s not doing the job. Hey! Maybe I’ll run for governor of New Mexico. I’ll get this place going. She’s not doing the job. We’ve got to get her moving. Come on: Let’s go, governor.”

Trump also criticized Martinez for allowing “large numbers” of Syrian refugees to resettle in the state. Although governors have limited control over these federal resettlements, Trump faulted Martinez for allowing it to happen.

“If I was governor, that wouldn’t be happening,” Trump said.

Mike Lonergan, Martinez’s press secretary, responded to Trump’s attacks in a statement late Tuesday night: “Apparently, Donald Trump doesn’t realize Governor Martinez wasn’t elected in 2000, that she has fought for welfare reform, and has strongly opposed the President’s Syrian refugee plan. But the pot shots weren’t about policy, they were about politics. And the Governor will not be bullied into supporting a candidate until she is convinced that candidate will fight for New Mexicans. Governor Martinez doesn’t care about what Donald Trump says about her – she cares about what he says he will do to help New Mexicans. She didn’t hear anything about that today.”

Martinez is the nation’s first Latina governor, and New Mexico’s first female governor. She is considered a rising star in the Republican Party and is frequently mentioned as a possible vice-presidential candidate. But she has been critical of her party’s likely nominee. Last month, Martinez told a crowd of about 60 wealthy Republican donors gathered for a retreat in Florida that she is offended by the language Trump has used to describe immigrants. She added that Trump’s plan to build a wall along the southern border and forced Mexico to pay for it was unrealistic and irresponsible, according to those in attendance at the time.

He also found time to attack another real class act, Bob Gates...

Man, I wish that Gates and Martinez could go to the Libertarian convention this week, and hijack the nomination to get the ballot listings and run third party...

Gates-Martinez is a ticket I could really get behind...

Just when you think he can't be any more of an asshole.... But of course, this isn't the real Trump, the intelligent business executive who can sit down and negotiate with anyone and build a consensus just by showing up--elect him and that's who will be president.

I'm convinced that what he would do if elected is take this show on the road...

And trash talk and try to bully foreign leaders the same way he does with domestic politicians...

Trump's strategy for trying to "unify" the party is to bully anyone who doesn't fall in line, and his strategy for expanding his appeal is to double down on his toxic, dishonest, fear-mongering approach in the belief that by doing so he can make even more people blind with fear, resentment, and anger...

He's made abundantly clear that securing the nomination has done nothing to make him believe he needs to behave more responsibly...

Quite the contrary, it is his intent to get even worse...

And he'd wind up getting his [our} ass kicked; eventually he's going to come up against a bigger and more skilled arrogant asshole (although it's hard to believe anyone more arrogant exists) and he'll get his ass kicked. Ditto for his dealings with Congress. Again, if elected I'd bet he'd be impeached and removed from office or assassinated in less than two years.

Is no one talking about Gary Johnson/Bill Weld as the an alternative to Trump (and yes HRC as well), and on the ballot in all 50 states? I despise Libertarianism, but these guys have some solid experience. Weld was pretty successful in Massachusetts, and he got elected twice (then again, so did Mittens). Weld is also in the running to out-elite John Kerry. IMO he is far more actively snobby than Kerry, which isn't going to set well with the Trumpanzees.

I can see their appeal to moderate Republicans, although I suppose their anti-intervention/isolationist view of foreign policy is a non-starter.

he ll probably get a hurricane to hit it right when he is about ready to demolish all the crappy casinos and save the demolition costs...

he is lucky like that....

Trump Vets Chair: Charity Money? Not My Problem

Three months ago Donald Trump held a fundraiser for wounded veterans and apparently raised $6 million. But most of that money has yet to be distributed and Trump’s chairman for veterans issues couldn’t care less.

Trump campaign’s adviser for veterans issues can’t account for $6 million raised for veterans charities by the billionaire—and from the sounds of it, couldn’t care less.

“I could ask, but it’s not high on my priority list,” Al Baldasaro, a New Hampshire state representative, told The Daily Beast.

Back in January Trump skipped an Iowa presidential debate due to a tiff with Fox News, instead holding a fundraiser for veterans charities. According to the campaign, this event raised some $6 million, to be distributed to 22 listed veterans charities.

Baldasaro played a major role for the Trump campaign in New Hampshire and has been outspoken in the press and on the campaign trail ever since. In fact, he helped deliver money to one veterans charity, accepting an oversized novelty check from Trump on stage at a campaign event before the New Hampshire primary. Soon after, he delivered a real $100,000 check to local veterans charity Liberty House. But he says he doesn’t know where the rest of the money went, and in essence, that it isn’t his problem.

Questions have lingered about whether that money has actually been dispense to those charities—since the fundraiser, numerous media organizations have investigated whether the charities have received the $6 million. The investigations span the ideological spectrum: the progressive MSNBC and the conservative Weekly Standard have been unable to find all the funds; as have The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and The Daily Beast.

The money simply hasn’t been found.

In early March, CNN was able to track down $2.9 million, citing the Trump campaign. In early April, The Wall Street Journal traced $2.4 million of the promised funds.

What these investigations have yielded is a solid conclusion that, thus far, Donald Trump and his nonprofit have dispensed, at maximum, about half of the $6 million to the listed beneficiaries. Nearly three months—85 days—have passed since the fundraiser.[you can add another month to that; this article was published on Apr. 22nd]

“I don’t track that,” Baldasaro told The Daily Beast. “I’m not concerned about it, because I know [Trump is] an honorable, honest guy… you guys just want to say, ‘gotcha.’”

Baldasaro tried to minimize his responsibility in the issue, saying that “it’s not that I’m the lead veterans adviser” or a paid staffer. But then he later acknowledged that he’s “the only one that talks about veterans for Trump.”

“It’s not high on my priority list,” he said, when pressed on why he didn’t account for the $6 million in order to put the issue to rest. “I agree with you on looking into it. I just wish I had a little more time… My veterans constituents have never asked us that question.”

His advocacy on homeless veterans, New Hampshire not having a VA hospital, medical cards, and medical marijuana was more important, he said.

Baldasaro said he may ask the Trump campaign in the next week where the money has gone.

Charity watchdog groups have urged Trump and his organizations to swiftly account for the funds they promised to veterans groups.

“Groups that hold fundraisers for charities should distribute the funds to those charities as rapidly as possible. By not doing so it delays aid or assistance to people in need of help and increases the risk that these funds get diverted to something other than their intended use,” [duh]said Daniel Borochoff, the president of CharityWatch. “A highly publicized event such as Trump’s fundraiser for veterans charities ought to disclose within a few months what it has done with the funds that it has raised.”

The charities themselves, meanwhile, remain confused about when and how much of the promised funds they will receive. Vets charity Task Force Dagger told The Daily Beast last month that they had received a $50,000 contribution from the Stewart J. Rahr Foundation, apparently on behalf of Trump, but has been unable to get any response from Trump’s own foundation as to whether they’ll be receiving funds from them as well.

“The charities should at least have been told when they can expect to receive the money!” said Sandra Miniutti, a vice president at Charity Navigator, a watchdog group. “Given the publicity surrounding the event, I believe timely delivery of the donations is in order.”

The Trump campaign has declined, on multiple occasions, to comment on where the millions raised for veterans have gone. They did not comment when The Daily Beast asked yet again Thursday.
