"I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created. I'll bring back our jobs from China, from Japan from Mexico from so many places. I'll bring back our jobs and I'll bring back our money."
Now really, LJ. How can you not get behind such a well-thought program like that?
The Libertarian Party has a presidential candidate: former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.

In recent national polls, Johnson got about 10 percent in a three-way matchup against Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. That 10 percent likely reflects discontent with the main parties' candidates as much as Johnson's popularity.

Now that Johnson's the nominee, he'll be on the ballot in all 50 states.

I have to wonder if Bob Dole isn't just pretending to endorse Trump while trying to sabotage the ticket:
Former presidential nominee Bob Dole tells CNN that Donald Trump needs a vice president like Newt Gingrich. Dole reminded Trump's primary opponents they pledged to support the party's presidential nominee.

"My view is that Donald Trump needs someone who understands Congress, who can help him work with Congress, who understands foreign policy, domestic policy, economic policy," Dole said Saturday. "You know someone like Newt Gingrich. You know none of us are perfect, but Newt Gingrich is a good fit for Trump, because he can help him in all of those areas and Trump has to listen."
If there's anyone who could give Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton a run for their money as the country's most disliked politician, it's Newt Gingrich. That ticket would be toxicity squared.

The Libertarian Party ticket will now have more elected Republicans on it than the Republican ticket...

I sincerely hope Trump picks Gingrich...

whenever the "never trump" crowd refers to their "principles", substitute 'financial interests' and you will get a more honest interpretation of their "principles"

Stephen Hawking has said that he fails to understand the popularity of Donald Trump, the presumptive US Republican presidential candidate.

ITV’s Good Morning Britain asked the man who has widened the world’s understanding of time, space, stars, galaxies and black holes if he could explain the popular appeal of the billionaire tycoon.

Hawking, perhaps the world’s most famous living scientist and the author of one of the world’s best-selling books, replied: “I can’t. He’s a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.”
It's only inexplicable to people who have two or more synapses functioning.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

That's a silly question. Those mosquitoes will all be deported back to their original breeding sites.

I don't have time to hang around and chat, but I thought you'd all enjoy the latest endorsement of Trump for Preznit: Kim Jong Un, everybody!
North Korean editorial supports Donald Trump
Trump is ‘wise politician’ and ‘far-sighted presidential candidate’: DPRK Today

JH Ahn
May 31st, 2016

A North Korean editorial on Tuesday said Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump can bring about North Korea’s “Yankee Go Home” slogan and ultimately help unify the Korean Peninsula.

The article published in state media outlet DPRK Today also referred to Trump’s proposal to hold direct talks with Kim Jong Un, praising the likely Republican nominee as a “wise politician” and “far-sighted presidential candidate.”

“In my personal opinion, there are many positive aspects to the Trump’s ‘inflammatory policies’,” wrote Han Yong Mook, who introduced himself as a Chinese North Korean scholar.

“Trump said ‘he will not get involved in the war between the South and the North,’ isn’t this fortunate from North Koreans’ perspective?”

Referring to the Trump’s speech in March to potentially withdraw the U.S. military forces from Seoul if it does not pay more for its defense costs, the North Korean editorial welcomed the policy with open arms.

“Yes do it, now … Who knew that the slogan ‘Yankee Go Home’ would come true like this? The day when the ‘Yankee Go Home’ slogan becomes real would be the day of Korean Unification.”

The article even urged Seoul not to pay its defense costs so that U.S. Forces would eventually withdraw from South Korea in the future, and urged American voters not to choose “dull” Hillary Clinton.

“The president that U.S. citizens must vote for is not that dull Hillary – who claimed to adapt the Iranian model to resolve nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula – but Trump, who spoke of holding direct conversation with North Korea.”

A researcher said the odd editorial indicates Pyongyang’s wish to break through Washington’s strategic patience policy.

“He’s the Dennis Rodman of American politics — quirky, flamboyant, risk-taking. At the moment he’s also an outsider. But Pyongyang is hoping that either he’ll be elected (and follows through on his pledges) or that his pronouncements will change the political game in the United States and influence how the Democratic party and mainstream Republicans view Korean issues,” John Feffer, director of Foreign Policy In Focus told NK News.

“This is very striking,” Aidan Foster-Carter of the University of Leeds told NK News. “Admittedly it is not exactly Pyongyang speaking, or at least not the DPRK government in an official capacity. But it is certainly Pyongyang flying a kite, or testing the waters. For the rest of us, this is a timely reminder – if it were needed – of just how completely Trump plans to tear up established U.S. policy in the region; and what an irresponsible, unthinking menace the man is.”

The unprecedented North Korean editorial came amid repeated calls for dialogue with Seoul and its ally Washington. Since May 17, Pyongyang published a government statement with the aim of improving relations with Seoul, and notified the South Korean government of a willingness to resume inter-Korean military talks.

South Korea dismissed Pyongyang’s call for talks but Pyongyang reiterated their intention to resolve the current inter-Korean deadlock through the dialogue.

This is really pretty sad:
Who, exactly, is David French, the ‘Never Trump’ white knight candidate?

David French. That's the name that conservative establishment insider and Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol wants to make America's official anti-Trump candidate. French, according to Kristol, is a "real" conservative who should launch a third-party bid to give Republican voters an alternative to voting for Donald Trump.

For millions of Americans on Wednesday, the next question was, who?

Here's what we know. French is a Tennessee attorney and National Review columnist who has been critical of Trump and in the pages of that magazine. French was part of the movement earlier this year to encourage Mitt Romney to launch a third-party campaign for the White House.

He's a married father of three, a veteran and a man whom friends and neighbors describe as highly intelligent and deeply religious. He attends a Presbyterian church and serves on the board of that church's Christian school, according to the Columbia Daily Herald, a local newspaper serving the area where French and his family live.

...The Frenches — David and Nancy — also have one of those cute "How we met" stories about which movies are made. To make this quick: A Christian college in Nashville was trying to recruit Nancy French, and had a recent graduate, David, call her to seal the deal. They married a short time later. And they've written about their marriage and how they maintained it while David French served in Iraq, where he earned the Bronze Star.

David French is a Harvard University Law School graduate. He has practiced law out of an office in Columbia, Tenn., and served as senior counsel at the American Center for Law and Justice and the Alliance Defending Freedom before becoming a staff writer for the National Review. He's lectured at Cornell Law School, another part of the Ivy League, and contributed to a bestselling book on the Islamic State, "The Rise of Isis: The Threat We Can't Ignore." French remains a major in the Army Reserves.
More:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the ... candidate/

I've seen Mr. French interviewed, and he's an intelligent and thoughtful fellow...

And with his resume; as a war vet of some note (Bronze Star) and a Harvard Law degree, he'd make an excellent Congressional candidate, possibly even a Senatorial candidate...

But as a "third force" who could garner enough votes to push the Presidential election into The House Of Representatives and then get enough votes from members of Congress to be chosen over Trump and Clinton?

You'd have to be ingesting some very powerful hallucinogens to believe that could happen...

A complete unknown, with no elected experience, and no substantial financial resources?

Bill, your heart's in the right place, but if that's the best you've been able to come up with, you might as well hoist the white flag...

I was prepared to support even Mitt Romney as an "Independent Republican" over Trump and Clinton...

Ingesting somewhat less powerful hallucinogens, it was possible to believe that Romney might pull off a three bank shot and win a plurality in a couple of states, throw the election into The House, and (assuming the Democrats didn't win a majority in the House, which would mean Hillary couldn't possibly win) cobble together a bi-partisan coalition that could win the vote over Trump..

But that can never happen with this David French fellow...

Nor would it ever happen with Gary Johnson....

So at the end of the day I'm left in the same spot...

Having to choose an arrogant, lying, cynical, Machiavellian, pocket-lining sleaze bag over a malignant narcissist who represents an existential threat to the country's well being and the American way of life...

Well, as my aunt Christine would say, "bless his little heart"... 8-)

Kristol meant well, and he fought the good fight, but without even a semi-legitimate standard bearer who can raise money...

If Bill Kristol believes that David French can be a serious player in this depressing drama, then his nickname should be "Kristol Meth"... 8-)

FYI — you realize both ¹ and ² describe Donald Drumpf?

Well, once Trump and Hillary are anointed as their respective party's candidates, you could always hold out hope that when they come together for a debate (unless Trump chickens out of debating her like he did with Sanders) that huge meteor that E'line's signature image refers to strikes and takes out the both of them and the parties have to go to their second choices; either that or call the whole thing off.  And of course the remaining Republicans would blame Obama for the meteor...

By the way, who WOULD be the parties' second choices???

Certainly...no question...

But Hillary is getting my vote, as despicable and detestable as she is, by virtue of not representing an existential threat to the country's well being and the American way of life...

Yes, that's admittedly a very low bar... but Drumpf has set it...

Under sane circumstances, "not representing an existential threat to the country's well being and the American way of life" would seem to be the minimal standard one would expect a candidate for The Highest Office In The Land to meet...it should probably be taken as a given...

But we are not living in sane times...

If somebody wants to send me a bumper sticker that says:

VOTE HILLARY! CHOSE THE DETESTABLE OVER THE UNTHINKABLE!

Or:

VOTE HILLARY! SHE'S NOT AN EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO THE COUNTRY!

I'll proudly slap that on the back of my old Range Rover...

Another good example showing what a toxic choice this is...

A couple of days ago, Trumpty held a press conference lying his ass off about his distribution of funds to veterans groups...

Claiming he didn't want to make publicity about it ...while he was passing out Publishers Clearing House sized mock checks at photo ops..

And finally distributing most of the money on the very day he was called on it (May 24th) in a Washington Post article...

And then lashing out at the press for not kissing his ass sufficiently, and daring to question Him...

And then, in her response in an interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes, (a very unusual for her call-in interview) Her Royal Clintoness first correctly takes Trump to task over the vets...

And then she proceeds to audaciously lie her ass off as well, asserting that the State Department IG report "exonerated" her and saying that the rules regarding emails were changed after she left as SOS..

When anybody with one good eye who has looked at the report can plainly see that the truth is the exact opposite...

That the rules were tightened in March of 2009, shortly after she became SOS... not after she left...

That was a brazen, shameless, bald faced lie...

The State Department IG report makes clear, in no uncertain terms, that what she did was completely contrary to department policy, and in no way analogous to practices followed by any previous SOS, because the rules were tightened when she became SOS...

On top of that, a series of email exchanges have now come to light showing that she had absolute contempt for the very idea that she should be bound by State Department policy, or that that should be her primary consideration...

But that doesn't stop her from mendaciously claiming the exact opposite to be the case...

But nevertheless, I will vote for her because as I said before, I will always choose the detestable over the unthinkable...

I have just finished watching what I believe is far and away the finest speech Hillary Clinton has ever delivered...

I didn't agree with everything she said, (especially her defense of the Iran Cave-in deal) and I find her penchant for nodding her head in agreement with what she's said after everything she says stylistically annoying and distracting...

But man oh man, she laid out The Case Against Donald Trump in as comprehensive, detailed, and devastating a way as could possibly be done...

I could never imagine that the day would come that Slick Hillie would give a speech that would actually have me applauding and yelling "right on!"...

But that happened today...

Credit where credit is due...
