BTW, as I've been reading up on this, I discovered the most recent poll referenced in the OP is actually an improvement...
A poll last weekend had the "yes" vote in the lead for the first (and only) time 51%-49%...
So hopefully the latest results mean that the "Yes" support has crested, and their momentum has been blunted...

People spend thousand of dollars on diamond jewelry even though (with rare exceptions*) it will immediately lose 30% of its value and even your grandchildren will never get it back.
Meaning that Scotland, which is in relative terms a rich country, can perhaps afford to do something which is no way in their material interests purely for reasons of emotion or sentiment. Besides, staying in the UK suggests that they are only as good as the Welsh. Intolerable!

It seems to me there is much in human history that could be labeled 'dumb', but that is sometimes the results of democracy, and thus it is what it is.
