kmccune, if ones does a little basic googling, it appears you were convicted of distribution of marijuana to a minor (your daughter), and sentenced accordingly. I don't know if you had a trial or took some plea deal, but that's a slightly different factual situation than what you presented above.

Ignoring bad laws or deliberately breaking them is a time-honored method of working to change them. See Ghandi Salt March.

The fact that the laws about pot have changed proves he was treated unfairly and with stupid harshness.

And Gandhi and his followers, as well as other practitioners of 'civil disobedience' (Rosa Parks and other activists), often were arrested and penalized for it.

I suppose the statement "he was treated unfairly and with stupid harshness" depends on how you want to look at it.  But if you look back at history, there have been countless times when seemingly minor offenses were treated with harshness and severity — because that's the way it was back then.  At one time you could have been burned at the stake as a heretic for asserting that the earth orbited the sun and not the other way around; you could have been flogged, hung, or burned at the stake as a witch for possessing a knowledge of and using herbal medicines; and even as recently as the twentieth century in the United States you could have been fined, imprisoned, and had your property confiscated if you were found in possession of alcoholic beverages.

My bottom line remains the same.  He (or his daughter) knew the law; should have known the risks; and still chose to disregard them.

There are two kinds of people who correct other people's grammar at Plan B:

1) Compulsive nit-pickers with a bad attitude caused by a mentally retarded wart fungus lodged in their temporal lobes that makes them feel they have a right to be obnoxious and a responsibility to criticize other people's grammar in an extremely irritating manner

2) or they are Meade...

I didn't see the need for Joe to include number two...

Number one seems to cover it pretty inclusively... :P

Redundancy.

Yep,points, taken.I have no muscle memory so ,typing is an arduous task for me and believe or not this keyboard goes haywire from time to time. But(hope the period appeared this time,I jabbed it very hard) Guinevere was pretty close in Her assessment,I never had a trial. When the investigator called me in,He acted like he was still my friend and I had no inkling I was in trouble(after all I wasnt caught with anything)He asked so many stupid questions and I answered truthfully,(thinking well,if I cooperate they will certainly give an upstanding citizen a break)you would be amazed at what that Guy tried to pin on me.
We talk about legal, but even the deputy that took me to jail, broke the speed limit hauling us there,so I guess all laws should be obeyed, huh?
One thing they didnt get out of Me after the fact, was the name of the Guy who sold the marijauna(this area has a very proactive drug task force, but they cant catch a murderer, google on the Hot Springs ,VA revenge murders)Next time I know not to say a word to a investigator.

Maybe you should try one of those "speak-to-text" speech recognition programs (like 'Dragon') that I've seen advertised on TV.
Or replace the keyboard.  Seriously, how much could a second-hand keyboard cost?

Not if it was an aesthetic judgement on the manner of inclusion.

When they switched the phone system at work to VOIP and synced it with email they included software that translated speech into text. In off moments I would delight my spouse by emailing her the translations of phone messages.

I don't recall that it was ever accurate.

Actually BB,thats an excellent idea, apparently my speech is good enough for the little amazon fire tv thingy to recognize the words,so probaly dragon and a good microphone would work.
A word about "Logitech" products,I purchased a brand new Logitech wireless keyboard and I was simply amazed at how cheap it was(it was defective and I returned it,so maybe I will get another)thanks for the tips,Beings that I have trouble distinguishing the comma, from the period, maybe I will get one of those backlite ez keyboards.(they go for peanuts now,if they work so much better,I may just have to put up with a wire) :ok
