I respectfully disagree, Econo - I know it's an old line of hers, but she used it in endorsing Hillary and urging people to vote for Hillary. I think the inference is clear, that it's a betrayal for a liberal woman not to vote for HRC.
Contrarily, I believe I'm a woman helping other women if I vote for a candidate whose policies would improve access to healthcare, provide ample maternity leave to new mothers, provide educational opportunity to all women regardless of income, etc. - regardless of that candidate's gender.
I always said I wouldn't vote for a woman just because she was a woman. This race puts that to the test, but it's an easy win for me - I like Bernie and believe in him FAR more than Hillary.
I liked Hillary once, but she's become the ultimate insider. She's filthy rich and likes to hobnob with the filthy rich. She has no clue what life is like for the 99%. She doesn't really connect with voters, which is why she lost Iowa (regardless of what she claims) and lost New Hampshire as well.

I think I agree with Econo on this one. Taken out of context, the Albright line sounds condescending, but it is part of her riff.
Re: A special place in hell . . .
Old line of hers or not, Albright demonstrated a political tin ear by using it in this context. This may come as news to her, but there are probably lots of folks, (particularly younger folks) who haven't been following her pronouncements, and who heard this for the first time...
In any event, it sure didn't help. Not only did Hillary lose among women under 30 by a whopping 82-18 percent, she actually lost the women's vote in NH overall by 11 percent, 55-44...
This wasn't just a defeat, it was a solid thumping. Team Clinton had hoped to close to within 10 points, instead she lost by 22...
The expression on Mr. Bill's face during Hillary's post-disaster appearance before her campaign workers pretty much said it all...

Re: A special place in hell . . .
In common with most commoners, I vaguely remember Albright but happily can recall nothing she ever said, let alone the context. Therefore, in common with most mudsills, the comment sounds exactly as BSG "heard" it
For Christianity, by identifying truth with faith, must teach-and, properly understood, does teach-that any interference with the truth is immoral. A Christian with faith has nothing to fear from the facts

She does have an 'authenticity' problem and I doubt if either she or Bill really ever identified with the 99% even when they were in that economic class ...
On the other hand FDR and Eleanor came from extreme wealth and yet were able to govern on behalf of the 99% better than any other president in our history. So I would give her the benefit of the doubt.
And while Bernie has great ideas he has no idea how to make any of them work, esp with the most hostile and partisan GOP in history in charge of both houses. If a Democratic president were in favor of sunshine and puppies they would be for dogcatchers and hailstones. They even turned against their OWN healthcare plan and a key achievement of their own candidate just because Obama was for it.

If there were any prospect of Bernie's "revolution" sweeping in a Democratic majority in both houses...now THAT would be cause for celebration. THEN he could really get things done and fulfill all his promises. But as things stand now...

Given the splits among the dems (with the blue dogs) I'm not so certain of that. But either way, if he played his cards right he could frame the agenda even if Congress rejected it--and that might lead to people becoming a bit more fed up with nothing being done.
Or maybe not; I thought people were too smart to buy Trump's BS as well, yet some apparently do.

Agreed. Also stupidity, and maybe senility...but probably NOT the malice/viciousness that has been read into it. However, Albright, not Clinton, should be the one blamed for the comment. Likewise Steinem, not Clinton, for her stupid comment.Lord Jim wrote:Old line of hers or not, Albright demonstrated a political tin ear by using it in this context.

o bullshit.
Clinton and cory booker were on either side of Albright. they were clapping and laughing and cheering as, and after she said it.
Clinton owns it.

Perhaps younger women voters are correct and we live in a post-sexist society and there are no significant barriers for women to overcome.
